Bio:
Born on the winter solstice on the outskirts of the sleepy town of Drake, Jerec was a quiet but observant child. He didn't play with children from Drake, even though offered many times to join in their games. His parents, Aida and Haldred Werguild, were quick to note the child was oddly attracted to nature. His mother and father forbade him to go into the Sielwod forest, as it was known that dangeous creatures lived there. This didn't bother Jerec to much, as he found other things to investigate: a hawk soaring gracefully overhead, looking for a meal to a simple spiderweb that was covered in a morning dew. Jerec recalls his early childhood as a carefree and innocent time, up to the age of eight.
On a warm summer night in Jular, a tribe of half giants raided the outskirts of the village of Drake under the command of a barbarian chief. They pillaged and burned the village, slaughtering any who resisted. His father, a town guard, was cut down mid-stride after killing one half giant. His mother ran toward her dying husband, and picked up his sword. The barbarian chief killed her personally. Jerec ran toward his parents as the chief picked up his father's blood covered sword as a trophy. The barbarian chief looked at the boy as he tried to get his parents to wake up. As he sheathed the sword, the chief told the boy that their death was the "pain of living". The raiding party left Jerec standing there between the corpses of his parents trying to fight back tears as they left. Jerec doesnt remember how long he stood there, but he does remeber hearing a ethereal voice coming from the Sielwood forest.
Jerec heeded the call, and ran headlong into the forest, crashing through bushes and underbrush until he came to the source of the sound. A nymph was sitting next to a tree, singing to herself. Jerec's last though before he passed out from exhaustion was that she was the most beautiful person he had ever laid eyes on. The nymph, named Sarine, sat shocked as the young boy collapsed not nearly 20 feet from herself. As she cared for the boy, she noticed that Jerec's soul was kindred with any creature he could identify with. She taught the boy the way of the woods, and exposed him to the teachings of Katia. He learned at her feet for fifteen years, until the day that changed his life. As he was walking through the wood, he found a bear trap near the edge of the wood. The trap had caught a wolf, who was trying to gnaw his leg off to get free. As Jerec bent down to calm the wolf and free it, a hand came down on his shoulder and flung him into a nearby tree.
Jerec looked at the half-giant who stood there with a smug look on his face, as the half-giant picked up a rock to smash the wolf's skull in. Rage overcame jerec, and he screamed...the scream sounded different to Jerec somehow, and he pounced at the half giant. With a swing, jerec's paw sent the half-giant reeling into a nearby tree. New smells assaulted jerec as he closed in for the kill, but the half-giant fled. Jerec finally realised what had happened. He had changed into a dire wolf to protect the other wolf. As he calmed down, he reverted to human form and was shocked to see Sarine tending to the injured wolf. Hey tried to tell her what had happened, but she merely held up her hand. "You knew what had to be done to help, and nature provided the way." As he sat there dumbfounded, looking at his hands, she told him that she could help him no more and the only way to anwser his questions is to find knowledge elsewhere. So, at which point Jerec left the Sielwood to find anwsers. He has not found it easy to interface normally with regular people, and they seem to view him as detached from reality. His first lead for anwsers has come recently, with the knowledge that some druids might know...
