Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Dregeath

Name: Dregeath
Age: 24
Class: Fighter-Rogue
Race: Human
Deity: Kithairien

BIO:

Dregeath was an unfortunate orphan at a very young age. His parents died from a very foul natural disease that infected the city they lived in. He was left to his own at the age of 12. Being intelligent and resourceful he managed to keep alive by doing tasks for businesses and organizations around the city. A few of his jobs placed in life in some danger as competition got in the way. He decided to spend some money and train with the sword, he became quite good. By the age of 18 he was well known and few interfered with his business. He saw many unethical things but never directly participated in them. He turned many a blind eye to things he did not agree with, but he was well paid by his various employers, one of which was the rogue’s guild.

Over the years he had exchanged his jobs for more training in fighting skills. But since he was not a powerful man he needed to compensate for his lack of strength. The rogue’s guild decided that Dregeath could be a valuable resource if properly motivated. So they offered to train him. In their eyes he was resourceful, skilled with the sword, willing to do things many others would not. He accepted their assistance and went deeper into the world of the underground.

He started to see more of what his blind eye was looking away from, a world of deception, bullying, and betrayal. A world where the rich always profited and poor always suffered. Eventually his consciousness started getting to him and his thoughts lead him down another path, “that’s just not right” he would often mutter to himself. He saw many powerful men taking advantage of common folk when there was no need. “They have enough gold to live like a king” he thought, “yet why do they abuse those that have a harder life?” But he kept about his business as these thought built up within.

One day a delivery job was required by an unscrupulous organization that owned parts of the city. He was asked to deliver a notice of payment for a small family living in a poorer side of town. He thought nothing of it and did his job. He quickly delivered the notice and left. The family was much like his family was, just not as well off. They had a small boy and were very pleasant people. He knew that they owed money and his employer was trying to collect it from them.

Later that afternoon while eating he made a conscious decision that he would help these people. The boy reminded him so much of himself. He went back with a hefty bag of gold to give the family and help them in their needs. “I don’t need the money that much” he thought. Upon his arrival he found two large men within their home threatening and bullying the father around. He interceded in the family’s behalf and had a sword pulled out on him by one of the thugs. The father grabbed the man’s arm to prevent Dregeath from being attacked and was quickly run through on the natural instincts of the thug. This is what made Dreageath’s conscious finally snap. He fought the two men till they were both death yet Dregeath seriously injured. He knew the employer these men worked for, and they were not of the understanding type. Dregeath knew he and the family would suffer severely for his actions. Dregeath took as much gold as he could and escaped the city forever with the family at his side.

Dregeath now saw what his blind eye was part of in his life and how the wealthy treated those of lesser stature. His morals would not stand for it any longer. He still desired success but not at the cost of those disadvantaged.
