Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Aidan Lucksmith

Full Name: Aidan Lucksmith
Age: 19
Class(es): Rogue (multiclass Rog/Rgr)
Race: Human
Subrace: n/a
Alignment: Neutral (eventually shift to Chaotic Good)
Deity: None planned, although I might be open to suggestions.
Domains (if cleric): n/a
Short Bio / Description:

Aidan was second son of three born to a peasant family that carved out a meager existance on the agrarian outskirts of the town of List on the continent of Mistone. He never tended his chores as closely as he should have, often sneaking off with friends to follow one of the nearby trade routes to town. Eventually, he fell in with the "wrong crowd" and took to petty thieving. He always made sure that no one was ever physically hurt and it was mostly for the challenge and thrill of getting away with something. Aidan, or "Lucky" as he inevitably came to be known, learned from and soon befriended a more worldly thief by the name of Corinth.

As he passed through adolecence and into adulthood, he came home less and less and his family never bothered to locate him as far as he knew. His gang became his new family, supporting themselves as highwaymen and thieves. They weren't murders or thugs and never had to seriously hurt anyone, stealing only from the rich and giving to the needy, which happened to be themsevles.

This continued on for some time until the day they waylayed what they thought was a simple merchant and his entourage. During the robbery, a band of mercenary orcs seemingly sprang from nowhere and slaughtered robber and victim alike. Aidan was always better at hiding than most and had a sixth sense that alerted him to danger (hence, "Lucky" and his first two feats: Stealthy and Improved Initiative) that allowed him to remain undetected as the orcs cut his friends down one by one. They seemed to be after something that the merchant had, but what it was Aidan could not tell.

Afterward, Aidan drifted North and West, eventually arriving in Hlint, where few if any knew him by name. By the time he arrived, feeling guilty for not helping his friends (though he knows there was little he could do but die with them) and nursing a grudge against the murderers and orcs in general (first favored enemy), he resolved to make something more of himself than a petty bandit and thief. Maybe even someday track down and avenge the loss of his surrogate family.

Aidan isn't exactly sure of his place in the world yet. His wounds are too fresh for him to articulate, but he probably has the
beginnings of a strong sense of justice, yet is too free-spirited to subscribe to anything organized. I'd like to see if he can 'grow into'
Chaotic Good. I plan to advance him pretty evenly between Rogue and Ranger, which I think shouldn't be too hard given the proximity to Sielwood Forest and especially Ranger's Vale. Suggestions are always welcome...
