Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Gildar Dolgson

Name: Gildar Dolgson
Race: Dwarf
Age: 62
Alignment: NG
Class: Fighter
Deity: Vorax

Personality:
a bit naive, easily provoked into a fight, loud, a bit lacking in the hygiene department, loyal, tends to ramble, over exaggerates.

Bio:
Gildar grew up in the village of Lar, just outside the Greypeak Mountains. His was a typical childhood for any dwarf. His parents taught him how to use an axe as soon as he was able to heft it into the air. A bit taller than most dwarves yet still retaining all the bulk, he was looked up to by most of his fellow playmates.

Gildar chanced upon an unusual pairing while he was still in his youth. One day when he was out playing with a few of his friends, an elf decided to join in the game. The elf lived here in the village with his family. While not unheard of, elves have a hard time fitting in with the local population of Lar, dwarves. Occasionally a fight would break out, due to prejudices. That day was one of those occurrences. It seemed the young dwarves did not wish to share their merriment with the young elf. They began to tease and push around the elf. Gildar, not knowing any better at the time, went along with his friends and harassed the poor elf. The elf then ended up leaving shortly after, a bloody lip was his only reward that day.

A few days later, Gildar was wasting some time over by one of the abandoned mine shafts in the mountains. Suddenly, the entrance to the mine shaft collapsed, boulders dropped down, completely covering his escape. Try as he might, Gildar couldn't lift the boulders to get out. He yelled and screamed at the top of his mighty dwarven lungs, but no one heard him. Days passed by, and Gildar began to grow weak with hunger and fatigue. He was almost ready to give up on trying to escape, when he heard something from outside. He peered out a small crevice that the boulders allowed. Standing outside the mineshaft was the elf from the earlier day. Gildar yelled out to the elf, pleading for him to help. Without any hard feelings at all, the elf, walked over to the boulders and tried lifting them. Even together, their strength wasn't enough. The elf then had an idea. He told Gildar to back away from the entrance. The elf then began chanting a spell. He shot his hand outward, and from it a mass of energy shot towards the boulders. Upon contact the boulders split in two and began falling away from the entrance. Hastily, Gildar escaped from the mineshaft. Gildar thanked the young elf. Together they walked back to Lar.

From that day on Gildar and Zygale were friends. Gildar protected his new friend from the harassment of the young dwarves in town. Many fights had broken out because of their newfound friendship, but together they endured. They've had many adventures growing up in Lar, and many more to come as they travel about the lands.

(I've made up a character that I like. So this should be the last for a long time. ^_~)
