| Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. | Gawrik Mordhawg Full Name: Gawrik Mordhawg
Age: 38
Classes: Barbarian/Battlerager
Race: Dwarf
Subrace: Gold Dwarf
Gender: Male
Alignment: CG
Diety: Vorax
While Gawrik's deeply tanned face expresses no emotion, his eyes burn with the rage of past battles. His ruffled blond hair is sloppily tied into one long strand that hangs down freely to his lower-back. His beard is like most other dwarven beard, thick and long, but it is not as well kept as others. It shows no evidence of any grooming, for bits of food and other small materials can seen trapped in the dense tangles of bright hair. Even though most of his dwarven brothers think of him as somewhat of a child, he has expirienced more pain and sorrow than most would in a lifetime. His tragic tale began when he was only 7 years of age. Both his mother and father were known as simple roming merchants, taking their business wherever they would make a good profit. The ancient Mordhawgs however, were feirce warriors, capable of incredible fits of fury. Often though, the lives of these ancient fighters were cut short, not in battle, but from its after effects. The incomprehensible rage that they sent themselves into was many times too much for their small bodies to handle. These dwarves lived short action-packed lives, and often only had one child. The ancient Mordhawgs' ways died off centuries ago, but the tradition of having only one offspring was kept, for reasons no one will ever know. Gawrik had no knowledge of his anscestors for his parents did not think he was of the right age to know of their violent past. He would never learn about them though, because his parents would never have the chance. He and his family had just come from a very profitable trip to a wealthy city, and were on their way back to their small camp outside of the city limits when a trio of hungry ogres attacked their caravan. Although the caravan did contain a few weapons, they were old and rusty, and not fit for defending against three ogres. The ogres quickly overtook the two dwarves and rumaged through the small portable store, while Gawrik hid in the nearby brush. He watched as the ogres destroyed all that his parents had lived for in seconds. He looked over to his mother and father, their bodies laid still on the cold autumn ground. Then he suddenly felt something he had never felt before. An emotion so fierce, so powerful, that it overtook his body. The rage that flowed through the veins of his anscestors now filled his tiny body. Just as the fury was almost too much for his mind to bear, one of the ogres spotted him, and his rage was released. That day he killed every ogre with only a small handaxe he had had attached to his belt. Later that afternoon he stumbled into the city, bloodied and broken, where he was nursed back to health, and trained in the art of combat. | | |
