Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Gorin Oakleaf

Full Name: Gorin Oakleaf
Age: 40
Class(es): Ranger/Rogue/Shadowdancer
Race: Gnome
Subrace: Forest Gnome
Alignment: Nuetral
Deity: Katia
Short Bio/Description:
Having grown up in a small clan of forest gnomes near Point Harbor deep in the Dinen Forest, you know of the many races of this realm. Gorin Oakleaf, the name givin by your clan elder at birth you were always a loner...even among your kind. You were always watching through the trees, watching the other races and wondering. Why were they always attacking your kind? Why did every place your clan go always end up being overrun by those filthy orcs, goblins or worse....humans. You continued training in the art of concealment, all through your youth. As you got older you gained in experience and abilities. Late in your youth your clan was attacked by goblins. Very few from your clan survived this attack. You were in the woods doing your normal everyday training when you smelled the smell of burning wood. You immediately ran as fast as you could to your small village.

But it was too late...the only thing that remained was the charred ruins of your house and those of all your friends and family. You swore revenge. Swore that the goblin scum that did this would pay. As soon as you could, you gathered as many supplies as you could muster from the wreckage of your village. When you were sure you could carry no more you left. Using the skills you had been taught by your clan elders you tracked them. Followed them slowly gaining on them day by day. One day you came across a goblin scout patrol. There were 5 of them you could smell them well before you saw them. The wretched smell of these vile creatures almost overwhelmed you. You slowly moved closer to them then when the time was right you attacked taking out 2 of them in the first few swings of your short sword. When you turned to face the others they had run. They ran screaming at the top of their vile lungs. As you chased them you realized you could smell it...it was getting stronger....the stench of goblins.

They were everywhere when you rounded the next corner, were it not for your superb training it would have been the end right there. However you disappeared into the trees fast enough that they did not see you. You stared in disbelief as you looked at the massive gathering. There must have been thousands of goblins...goblins everywhere you looked. You slowly drew to the conclusion you could never defeat that many at one time. So you slowly slipped away into the darkness. Now you spend every waking moment hunting the vile goblins that slayed your clan. Picking them off one at a time. You still avoid the other races when possible however you have learned that they are not all bad..just most of them. You will never trust them however you have learned to tolerate them when you need to. And so in continues....the endless cycle of training and hunting goblins and sleeping. Just to wake the next day and do it all over again.
