Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Nobwocket Dernhelm

Full Name:Â Nobwocket Dernhelm Age: 60 Class(es): Wizard (general)/Palemaster Race: Gnome Subrace: N/A Alignment: True Neutral Deity: Branderbuck Short Bio/Description:
He was born a normal gnome to his loving parents. They however were wanderers, wanting to see as much of the world as possible. His father was an engineer who was able to construct many odd but useful devices. His mother was a minor Wizardress who actually prefered Alchemy to spells. As a family they were very close.
Nobwocket was orpahned in Bloody gate when it was attacked by a marauding force of giants. Nobwocket has no other kin that he is aware of. Since he was to young to fight, he was apprenticed to the undertaker. Nobwocket was used to strip the bodies od the dead of any useful items so that they could either be returned to the realives of the victim or to the garrison in the case of weapons and armor. Over the years as he grew up he saw more and more battles take place and eventually he started also digging the holes for the unfortunates.
Nobwocket however deeply missed his parents and for the most part perfomred his job mechanically, the only way he could and not go insane over all the deaths from the many battles at the gate. He didn't want to just bury dead for the rest of his life though and thoughts of leaving stated to fill his mind, his parents wanderlust asserting itself over time.
Over the years he even took to talking to the deceased, he was after all a Gnome in a city where there were mostly dwarves. At least the dead would listen to him and not throw things at him and tell him to shut up. They would listen to everything he said. He started to become somewhat more reclusive, talking less to the living and becoming more obsessed with death and how to master it so he could use it to make friends who would listen to him and keep him company.
One day a wizard in a party of adventurers came into the gate and Nobwockett remebmered his dear mother, how she tried to become better at using spells and jut didn't seem to comprehend enough to ever understand the greater magics. He made his decision, he would hide in their gear to get away from Bloody gate. The party left the gate travelling to Point Harbor. They of course found him after a few hours and were about to return him but didn't want to retrack their steps back to the gate, nor would they just leave him as they were of a good nature. Misfortune however struck the party when they made a wrong turn and were seen by some great green giants. The fighters fought valiantly but in vain and Nobwockett ran to the bridge, panicked, it was out, all he could do was try and run and jump to the other side. Having no choice he made the jump and contiued to run.
Eventually he found his way into the Thalos river, exhausted. He rested and looked for food but had no money. into the Wizards tower he went. He found a Wizard there and begged him for food. The wizard saw some potential inÂhim and told him 'No, I will not give you food but you may earn it. I am in need of an apprentice, you might just suffice". So he had found work and food. He was more than sufficient for the task, he found he was very good at it and studied there for 10 years before his wanderlust took over again......
