Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

| Dalah Full Name: Dalah
Age: 18
Class(es): monk
Race: halfling
Subrace: ghostwise halfling
Alignment: lawful neutral
Deity: -
Bio/Description:
Dalah could be seen as a lost one, most of his life he has been travelling from place to place. Some travels seemed more like fleeing than travelling. He remembered some, but little of the life in the tribe. His father was the only one he had most of his life. His father was respected by some, but misunderstood by most.
What the reason was why Dalah's father left the old tribe? Dalah, never got to know that. He knew it was something with a prophecy and the ritual of change. If his father was still there, maybe he would ever know. Now he is no more than a Kalah, a lost one, as a ghostwise would say. He had no name, for he was taken away before he was given a name and without his father, who would give him a name? Only he could, so Dalah seemed alright, a combination of "it is" and "lost". Why "it is"? Dalah himself didn't know, just it was something his father used to tell him, "he was" and he should never forget that.
Dalah's father was different of other ghostwise, while most are trained with channeling ancestors, ways of the woods or fighting, Dalah's father was trained with nothing it seemed, only with himself. When he fought, he used his fists, when he needed rest, he turned to himself and with more things, he only seemed to need himself.
Eventough he now and then spoke of the ancestors, about what they said and what they were like, however he never told how he knew that. Now that Dalah was alone he started to wonder....
It was only after a month after his father's death that he was called by the dragon, giving him a new goal in his still young life. He was unsure if he had to take it serious, what would a dragon want from a lost boy like himself?
I have no idea for multiclassing for him and I like to keep it open. At start he just lives on with the teachings he had from his father, one that discovered his way to enlightment without a master. Dalah however could end in a lot of places, like without too much influences from outside he could see the wisdom of his father. If ending up in future-less situation he might become no more than a street thug, but on the other hand if guided by someone else he could become a important person in an organisation. So, if it's alright I would like to keep that open, because it makes more sense roleplay wise I think.

| RE: Dalah Add more detail to be bio for your halfling. I cannot see any real reason among it all that he could not simply be a normal halfling. The race here is not presented as integral to the character. | | |

| RE: Dalah I think there's a misunderstanding on my side or your's, but ofcourse I could rewrite a bio without him being ghostwise, but that would change alot, pretty much the whole idea of the character, but if you want a longer bio because it's a ghostwise, that's something different.
If he wasn't a ghostwise, he wouldn't have the identity problem (the name thing), he wouldn't be outcast, this works 2 ways, one in society he is outcast because of his race and his father was outcast because of the ghostwise society (not exactly stated, but there's a hint).
The not fully known past would dissappear if he was another subrace, ghostwise aren't common among other races, a strongheart or lightfoot wouldn't be that different from the city life as ghostwise societies are, which again makes him a stranger at both places, "normal"civilisation and "ghostwise"covilisation.
Also ghostwise are wiser, which makes it more likely to reach enlightment without a master than anyother race.
I don't see what part didn't needed to be changed if I made him a lightfoot halfling.

| RE: Dalah We want more details to why being a ghostwise is integral to your character as opposed to being a plain halfling. How it afftect him in day to day life, up bringing, ineterpersonal interactions things of that sort.
Also if you are thinking about rping him into multi-classing him later, please be aware of the restrictions for multiclassing a monk.

Normally not much interest was shown for halflings, at least not ghostwise. Except for those who thought body language was "cool" and kept asking about it, one even believed ghostwise were psychic. Dalah himself didn't know much of the body language, he could reconize it, but that would be near all.
He had interest is the ghostwise and a part of him wants to return, however he also sees that there is as good as no chance for that. While being a ghostwise he would still be a stranger and he would have to adopt to their ways again, not to forget finding a tribe first. Also he was afraid he would offend his father's spirit if he went back, while not being raised as a typical ghostwise, he still had respect for the ghosts of family that had died. And like most ghostwise he placed them before deity, however this also was so because his father always taught him to look to himself instead of to the gods.
Which left him with the question why his father left, what prophecies could make him leave? He wouldn't have left out of danger, that was not like him. And what was it with the ritual of change? if one had seemed to have found balance, it would have been Dalah's father.
Also why didn't mother do anthing? ofcourse she had other childeren and husbands to care about, but she wouldn't forget about Dalah. All Dalah could think of was that Dalah's father left because he didn't agree with the rest of the tribe. Still the question was not answered.
All Dalah wished for was becoming a true person, as like getting name in the ghostwise tribes. He knew that the chances on that were small and maybe becoming a "true" person among all the other races was even more worthy. Maybe he had to give himself a name, maybe he would be given one, aslong as he would grow to become worthy.
TBW, only monk multi-class restriction are the agliment and that you can't multiclass back (unless with a character develpment quest maybe)
