Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Full Name: Gyrin the Great (Gyrin Stoutheart)
Age: 25 yrs
Class(es): Cleric
Race: Halfling
Sub Race: GhostwiseHalfling
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Deity: Rofirein
Domains (if cleric): Strength & Magic

Short Bio/ Description:
Ah, so you want to know about me huh? Well what can I say, my story is filled with peril, heroics and of course the hero, me, ends up with the girl in the end. Heh, heh, of course that part of the story hasn’t been written yet.

I get ahead of myself though. My name is Gyrin, Gyrin the Great to be exact but I was named Gyrin Stoutheart as you can see by this tattoo right here on my arm. I grew up in a Ghostwise village not too far in the High Forest. I was always a little taller than everyone else, even most of the adults. It earned me the nickname Tallfellow which I’m sure some of them still call me today. I didn’t mind it at all, I kinda enjoyed being taller than everyone else. My mind would always wonder even when we were in classes learning of our ancestors and meditating trying to reach out to their ghosts. I would always daydream of slaying dragons and saving the damsel in distress. That made me different than everyone else and I would get numerous scoldings. I wasn’t alone though, my best friend Skalli and I were in the same boat.

We would meet outside of our little village and pick up sticks and pretend they were swords. On those glorious days we would be glorious knights fighting against some great evil, or heroes trying to save a damsel in distress. We had much fun those days. It was one day when Skalli and I were in a particular scruff arguing who was going to be the heroic knight when we heard laughing behind us. We both whirled to find a human knight watching us.

Both of us were mistrustful of humans, but he seemed to be the very essence of what we had been daydreaming about. He had on some type of heavy armor that was almost blinding with a huge sword strapped behind him and he was currently leaning on a shield that had some markings that neither Skalli or I had ever heard of. He introduced himself as Erias, a champion of Rofirein. He happened to be wandering in the forest visiting an old friend when he heard us. We were skeptical at first but when we heard that he was an adventurer, we were glued to the spot as he recounted some of his adventures. As night drew near he bid us farewell but he left both of us with a book all about the doctrine of Rofirein. Skalli and I took the book home and read it through and through and from that day on, our play began in earnest.

On my 16th birthday, my father.... Goodness me. You’d think that I was just born from wolves. Well, let me tell you about my family. My father Ulek was a cobbler, he made shoes and my mother Aisha ran our little shop with him. They never made a lot of money but my brother Isa and I never wanted for anything. This probably attributed to my daydreaming. Anyway on my 16th birthday, my father wanted me to join him in the family business. I did but my heart wasn’t in it. That first night I got back home and I almost went into a state of depression. That wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life. That was the first night that I ever prayed to Roefirein.

Skalli and I didn’t get to play much those days but on one such occasion when we were both 18, we heard screams. We both ran to find out what was going on and we saw Kaitlin, the village elder’s daughter, lying on the ground with a boar pawing at the ground as if to charge. I didn’t even think, I ran down from our hiding place and jumped on the boar. I really didn’t know what I was doing but I managed to divert the boar long enough for Skalli to pull Kaitlin away. I wasn’t so lucky because the boar gored me. The only thing that saved my life was the approach of a hunting party.

The village had overlooked Skalli and my play up until that point but they decided that enough was enough. It was time for us to grow up and leave the childish nonsense behind. The book that we had was brought out by my parents and everyone was in an outrage. I think the only thing that saved us from expulsion was the fact that we saved Kaitlin. Anyway, it was decided that I was to go through the Ritual of Change. I inquired as to Skalli’s fate but I still don’t know to this day. When I was deemed fit enough to leave the village I did so. I was on my way out when I was met by Kaitlin. She gave me one of the most dazzling smiles I’ve ever seen, pushed something into my hands and gave me a short but oh so sweet kiss. I was dazed for a moment afterwards and just barely saw her as she mouthed thank you. She left me some sweet bread and a note saying “Thank you my hero” with her scarf. Ah, I still carry that scarf to this day.

Now to make a long story short, I grew up. No longer do I hold innocent ideals in my head. I brought the book of Rofirein with me and many a night I would read the book by campfire light. I decided then and there that I would become an advocate for honor and justice. I would seek to bring law to all corners of the world, even back to my little village in the forest. I held up my little dagger and swore it to Rofirein. My blade would be used to uphold the law and honor and truth and knowledge. I would not let chaos reign! I said a prayer to him from my heart and I felt him bless me and flow into my heart and then I knew what I must do. I journeyed to a nearby town where I was inducted in as an initiate of the Roefirein faith. I became a paragon of virtue and honor and I’ve dedicated my life to justice honor and the pursuit of knowledge. My village wouldn’t be happy to hear that though, they think that I’m supposed to be seeking balance within myself. Truth be told, there’s only one person that I really hope is proud of me, that will make it all worthwhile. I mean, what’s the point of being a hero if you don’t have someone close to you to appreciate it.

Rofirein is LN so you can not be a CG cleric of Rofirein. Based on your bio I would envision him as a pure fighter instead of a cleric.

Sorry, I meant to change that to Lawful Neutral, that's a mistake on my part.

Gyrin is more the militant type of cleric. I glossed over some parts of his story because it was becomming very long. He spent a few months at the temple learning the ropes as an initiate.

Then edit the post above so that it will have the correct alignment. Also you need to add more information on Gyrins relationship to Rofireins dogma. Instructions can be found here.
