Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

Look, it isn't like I wanted to grow up and be an adventurer.
Who does, really? I mean, with all the mucking about in swamps and crypts and associating with all kinds of types...well. Did you know that in some places they let dwarves come and go as they please? Dwarves, eating in the same place as someone like me. It's just disgraceful. But we were talking about me, weren't we?
It's just that nobody back home understood me; I'm really complex, you know? It wasn't even my fault that I got kicked out of the Magician's Academy, my teachers just hated me because they knew that I could be better than they were. It's true. Anyhow, that stuff is easy; you can just kind of wave your hands around and mumble a few things and get by. The whole hat and cloak thing is just to make it look impressive. Boy, you wouldn't know it if you had seen my dad, though. He just LOST it, I didn't know elves could turn that colour. He kept going on about how much potential I had, and how I had let down the family and on and on. You would think that having his eldest son the youngest elected Magistrate ever would be enough, but that's just the sort of guy my dad is: it's never enough. Always supposed to be striving and pushing yourself, he says. Why don't you try to be more like your brother, he asks. I don't know about that, it always seemed just easier to do the least amount of work possible. I mean, so long as it's pretty close, who cares? Am I right?
Oh wait, was that your drink? Huh. You sure?
Fine, take it then. I really don't understand why people get so worked up about their stuff. I mean, look at it this way:
Let's say that that sword cost that guy 10 coins'o' the realm. So, that makes the sword worth 10 coins, right? So why should *I* pay another 10 coins to him if I want it? Doesn't that make it really worth 20 coins'o'the realm? See, this is where inflation come from. So if I just /take/ it, then everything stays at the same price..the sword is already paid for, and all he has to do is buy another one. I know, economics gets tricky...I try to just leave it to the gnomes, you know?
Well, it isn't like I never plan on going back to school. I just needed some time off; to find myself, you know? It's just that I need to get out and see the world before I go back to the grind. I mean, I know that I /can/ be great at the Magician's Academy...my mom always said so.
