Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. When you join you'll also be able to communicate privately to other members (PMs), establish and respond to polls, upload and download content and access many other special features. Default Fondarth Delandar

Name: Fondarth Delandar
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Class: Bard
Race: Human
Sub race: N/A
Alignment: True Neutral
Deity: none
Bio:

His mother dying from giving birth to this child, Fondarth was raised by his father, who was none other than Jalsteen Delandar, the famous instrument maker. Fondarth soon enough discovered his passion for music, and since the age of 5 began to play music. That is probably what saved the little sanity the little one had, as all of the villagers pointed him as being an error of nature and an abomination for killing his mother upon birth. While other children would play outside, he stayed inside, secluded from anyone else than his father.

Inbetween his practice sessions with his father and his helper's job at the music shop, Fondarth began to read all kinds of books, and soon grew a taste for knowledge. A wandering merchant came one day in town, and stopped by the shop and proposed a deal that Fondarth could not refuse: a pair of drums in exchange of an ancient and rare book! Upon opening it, Fondarth unleashed something he never saw before: magic. Studying his tome for weeks, he finally became able to make some small magic, but no big deal.

About 7 years later, when the child was now 22, a strange man, his face hidden with his cloak, appeared in town. He went straight for the shop, as if he "knew" what he was looking for was there. While slamming the door open, he shouted out some strange words.

"Kzerdan d'is ta'nabli!"

In a flash of light, Fondarth's magic book appeared in his hands. Jalsteen, being at the counter at that time, could only watch as the man opened the book, then made some signs into the air and a gigantic red hand appeared, and grabbed Jalsteen by the hair, and took him outisde by force. His shouts gathered quite a crowd in the town square, and Fondarth could only notice something as big as this was. When he saw what was the object of attention, his eyes grew big, and he became speechless.

"Behold and learn what happens to those who meddle with Harader the Great!" Said the man with the cloak. And just then, with a move from his hand, a twisted blade of purple energy appeared in the air, and executed Jalsteen immediately. The man then disappeared into thin air, leaving only the corpse behind him.

Everyone then turned their glance towards Fondarth, who was now on his knees, no tears were able to come out.

"You freak! Look what you've done again!"
"It's all your fault! Don't think we never saw you and your magical nonsense!"
"Without him, our village is doomed, you ruined the only thign that would attract travelers!"

These were one of the last things Fondarth heard, as when he woke up, he found himself before a dead woman. Blood tainted his hands, and villagers were coming back with swords. Full of hatred and despair, Fondarth left his village and swore to teach them a lesson...teach the whole world a lesson. He now devoted himself to sing to everyone the futility of hope, the stupidity of friendship, and the ignorance in which they were all: our world is not a world of good and evil, nor is it a world worth living for. It is an empty world, we simply exist and there is simply no reason for us to be here, so all we have to do is wait for our death to come.

It is now 4 years since he left his village, and he is still more than ever convinced that he speaks the truth, and will do almost anything to convince people to embrace this path.

OK, well I know it doesn't exist in NWN, but I wanted to do somewhat of a Dirgesinger character (ref. page 43, DnD: Libris Mortis, Book of the undead), plus I don't think I saw any bard characters online yet. So I thought it would be nice to do one ^_^

I just thought of something, but I don't know if it's something that could be done (as I am not familiar at all as to how building a module works), bu since you created some of these PrCs, if it's not that long and some of you possess the Libris Mortis, maybe you could add another PrC (Dirgesinger) if it's not that long to incorporate in the game...if it cannot be done, I will understand also, I know it's a hard thing to manage a big thing as Layonara, but it's just a suggestion Thanks for your patience ^^

Please giveÂus some details on this dirgesinger from the book. We will go from there.
Also, at this time all PrC's that we plan to implement are there--it takes a large amount of work to get them balanced and fair across the board. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Well a dirgesinger is something like a bard, but instead of bringing courage to his allies, he strikes fear and sorrow in his ennemie's hearts. He is often seen acting as an officer in a cult, or sought to compose epic laments for dead heroes that would be remembered throug time, even when the memory of the hero would be gone, the lament would still be sang. A dirgesinger belives in the common fatality that links us all: that whatever we do, we are doomed the instant we are born, and that all we have to do is to live in wait for our death to come. So basically it's something like a depressed poet in the end.

OK for the PrC, was just a suggestion ^_^

Without any feedback on something wrong in the character itseld, should I consider it approved or wait until a GM officially says so?
