| Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. | Vorkresh the Goblin Full Name: Vorkresh the Goblin
Age: 19
Class: Rogue / Wizard
Race: Goblin
Subrace: None
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Deity: Shadon
Bio/Description:
Early in life, Vorkresh came to the realization that among goblins, knowledge is equated with power. The smarter, the more cunning the goblin, the easier it is for him to climb the social later. While physical strength is often prized, Vorkresh was sadly lacking in that department and was thus forced to rely solely on his wits and speed.
Vorkresh quickly became interested in the arts of the shamans and wizards of the realms. With their vast knowledge of magic, and their seemingly (to a Goblin) limitless power, he was easilly drawn into the study of magic. Sadly, before he could achieve any real progress, his life took a dramatic turn.
For reasons Vorkresh refuses to speak of, he was cast out of his villiage in disgrace with naught but the clothes on his back and a small knife in his hand. Occassionally he drops hints regarding an attempted take over of his tribe that took place at the same time as his casting out, but when pressed on the matter he clams ups and refuses to talk.
Despite his dire circumstances, fortune smiled upon Vorkresh the day he was cast out, for he was soon found by one of Az'atta's wandering clerics, who took pity upon the wretched creature before him. He taught Vorkresh how to use a bow, and how to use his natural dexterity to avoid predators. To his surprise, the wretched creature also had a vast capacity for kindness, and he suspected that the Goblin's exile may have had something to do with it.
Though the cleric of Az'atta was unable to convert the young goblin away from the prank-loving ways of Shadon, for a brief time the two journeyed together, and when Vorkresh proved able to fend for himself, they parted ways.
Now Vorkresh journeys in search of knowledge. . . above all he still wishes to one day become a great wizard, but has come to realize that first he must master his ability to survive on his own in a world of bigger, stronger folk. Using his wits and cunning, he will first carve a place for himself before finding a mentor to continue his tutelage in the ways of all things mystical.
We now join Vorkresh at a time where he is his most malleable. . . just starting out in the world, with the potential for either great good, or great evil. Join us and follow the life of . . . Vorkresh the Goblin.

| RE: Vorkresh the Goblin One last thing to add as a side-note . . . .
I have yet to come up with a name for the one who aided Vorkresh when he was down on his luck. While I would *love* to have another player who might be one of the very wandering Clerics of Az'atta mentioned here work with me to come up with something, I doubt that will happen.
So for awhile at least, until someone volunteers to become a small part of this character's past, or until Vorkresh develops enough of a friendship with others to perhaps open up a bit about himself, this cleric shall remain nameless.

| RE: Vorkresh the Goblin *Wide-eyed* Wow, that was faster than I expected. Thanks, I think I will really enjoy it here. Its the CDQs that really drew me... its the sort of thing that as a PnP DM I've always loved to do for my players.
I shall be IC shortly then. . . once I've worked out how I want him to speak. Its hard to find an excuse for sophisticated speech for a goblin. . . so I think I'll have to find a mix of a lack of grammer and vocabular and a decent head for conversation, however limited. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
