Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Tsel Layil

Full Name: Tsel Layil
Age: 31
Class(es): Ranger
Race: Human
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Bio/Description:

Born in a land of wealth and prosperity, Tsel knew nothing of battle and bloodshed. He and his parents lived in a predominantly human city in a land far from the reaches of tyranny and injustice. His father was a well respected noble on the city council and his mother the envy of all the other beautiful matrons of his birthplace.
On the second moon of the third season it was customary for the women and children of his region to make a pilgramage to the holy temple in the west to pay respects to their ancestors that had went on before them. Taking his mother's hand, Tsel departed with her on the three-day journey.
Back at the city the first conflict in years had surfaced. Orc bands making their way from the far outreaches of the lands had been reported to Tsel's father and the other council members. Deciding it would be wise to ride out to retrieve the women and children, a party left the city to catch up with them... but they were too late. When the party arrived at the caravan all had been slain, women and children alike; all were dead... save one.
The three-year-old boy was taken back to his father in the human city. The man was overcome with grief and dispare at the loss of his wife, but took comfort in the life of his son. A year later, knowing that the child needed the proper care of a mother, Tsel's father ventured away from their homeland with his son to the ancient elven kingdom to find a bride. There he married a beautiful elven woman named Enelya, who cared for Tsel as her own. She bore his father a second son who they named Alethos, but only one year later, Tsel's father was overcome by a lethal disease, leaving her to raise the children on her own.
Time came and went, and Tsel married an elven girl on his eighteenth birthday, and after a year had passed they had a son. The life Tsel had with his wife and child was short lived as the great orc wars reached its pinnicle and found its way to the doorstep of the elven kingdom. Tsel sent his mother, wife, and child back into his house while Alethos and he took arms against the orc raiders. They managed to push them back into the eastern mountains, but when they returned to their home, they found their house set ablaze; his mother, wife and child... all gone...
After the deaths of the people he held most dear in his life, Tsel was left scarred. He ventured into the woods, vowing justice be brought down upon the heads of those who did this. In time Tsel fulfilled is oath, and laid the spirits of his family to rest. He had many more adventures after this, helping those in need where he could, and devoting his life to keeping what happened to him from happening to others.
Tsel tried to settle down again, but the memory of his wife and his restless spirit could not allow him to do so. He had received word that his half-brother Alethos (who he parted ways with a year earlier after many adventures together), had arrived in a distant land known as Layonara, and was being followed by trouble. Packing the few things that he had together, Tsel departed for the fabled land to reunite with the only family he had left...

Personality:
Tsel strives to do good in all things, but has a tendency to be brash and quick to rush into things at times. He harbors a chip on his shoulder against orcs, but is wise enough to know that not every orc was responsible for the losses that came along in his life. He has learned many things in his adventures, but has not comepletely adopted all the lessons that have been presented to him on his travels. Tsel tries to help others when he can, but may sacrafice his convictions in order to accomplish a more lofty goal.
