#1 | | | **Vestlyn Cystain ** - Denotes Changes
Full Name: **Vestlyn Cystain
Age: 26
Class: **Cleric (Possibly thinking a 2nd, but would like that RP Driven if it happens)
Race: Human
**Align: CG
**Domains: Good, Healing
Deity: Ilsare
Agreement: As per **Cleric request, I state that I have read and understand the Dogma of Ilsare and hope to uphold, as best I can, a relationship from my Character with this Chosen Deity.
**Vestlyn's Ideals of Ilsare: "Choose a love with haste." **Vestlyn once said to The Heart of Gold, that is Ilsare. His view of Ilsare is one that he is Enveloped in. He comes to Love this Goddess only with the Image she portrays to him. She portrays an Elven female to him, clad in red silks, with fair skin and caring eyes upon him. He can only believe it is the Goddess herself, for he is so consumed. That is why he would pray for his love to be sent swiftly, though it is not. He believes she tests him in his understanding of Love, still being relatively young in the world. He believes himself to have fallen in Love many times, ultimately deciding that it must have been the outer shell of a woman that called to him.
Background: **Vestlyn's Father was not a noble, he wasn't even an upholder of Law, he was neutral in all things and wasn't more than any father could be. He was a simple working man, giving labor where labor was needed. He often helped in the Contruction of temples, small shrines and Monastaries. He was studious, but not overly intelligent such as a Wizard. He taught many things to **Vestlyn, such things consisting of how to treat a maiden, how deceit can consume you in the blink of an eye, how to make first impressions, to not judge without knowledge, and how to care for himself (Appearance wise/Hygiene).
**Vestlyn's Mother was his father's undoubted true love, Cleric to Ilsare herself, believing that Ilsare had shown her this man in a vision two nights before he would ride into her town. She was unmistakably drawn to **Vestlyn's Father. She too taught **Vestlyn many things while his father was in his studies, she taught him of Ilsare, and of her love not just for a single person but for all. She showed him many blessings, mostly teasing him with such things, just to show the existence of such wonders to a small boy.
**Vestlyn did not show signs of disbelief in him, he always seemed intrigued to learn more, even as a young teenager came to grow. Through his years of developement and conversing with few women, he grew to love them just for who they were not seeking out their love, but knowing he could grow to love them as he had seen with his father and mother. He grew to care for few women he had met, staying shy to meet more though he had a dominating presence with some men as a leader to some stable hands at an early age, and helping his father's men to work, showing them some problems he had seen and helping them with the construction when he could. **Vestlyn was not a very strong man, when he helped with construction it was tedious jobs others did not like to fill, but **Vestlyn knew his place among them, he knew he was respected and knew they would listen to him despite his stamina and strength to continue on massive stone Temples.
He was brought up well, it was clear to any in a city, as he showed manners and had truth behind all he said. He did not seem to ever elaborate so boldly on situations they became unbelievable, he simply stated the blunt truth. Often times such things would get him in trouble for stating such obvious truths, but if he were up studying the night before, and his mother felt like asking, he would not lie to her, even knowing he may be punished. His truth to things was very rewarding, as many times he saw where his father spoke about deceit and how it had affected him and his mother, or friends.
This led to **Vestlyn's Strong-will; his 'want' to get things done when things presented itself. Though he fell from being so studious, Vindel sought more to find out what Ilsare held for him. **Vestlyn often dreamt of fair maidens, many to choose from but Vindel never choosing. He felt Ilsare only had one for him, and that that one would have an aura around her that was apparent to him.
He lived an enjoyable life so to say, never falling to much tragedy. His mother was much older than his father, by nearly fifteen years, and her age was growing on her. **Vestlyn was so young still, only being twenty-three. The family was not well taken care of though, when it came to health, sometimes they could find good meals, sometimes just coarse wheat. It played a factor in most things concerning the three, though **Vestlyn seemed stable, often times his mind was not his own because of the hunger, growing more angry (but not much more) at simple things, like not having food to eat. While his mother felt for him, she felt she could not provide so much to his pleasing and it dwindled on her as well. When his father passed of illness, his mother did as well, but from her age over being sick or unfed. She was nearing sixty when she passed, his father just forty-three.
**Vestlyn saw these things coming, but felt he could not do much to help them. He continued for two years longer in his travels, helping masons build more temples, many for Toran, some for Lucinda, and even more for Ilsare. He enjoyed the Temples of Ilsare as they were always so decorative and vibrant, a place he knew his mother always enjoyed. He spent much time after her passing inside the temples, saying to what friends he might have had that he was thinking of leaving them, hoping to find better in other lands.
He travelled for six months, coming well into his twenty-sixth year of life, continuing what he could with his many talents. He once faught off three boars that hounded a farmer's apples, getting five apples in return. These little things kept him alive, though did not have much impact into his future except that he could continue to live in it. -- And this is where the Story Begins, When he first arrives to the many Cities in Layonara.
Description: **Vestlyn naturally stands out in a small crowd, he is not so dominant a man with size, but he has great stature, always showing that he can stand more upright than the best of statues. His face isn't so broad, but his high cheek bones are something women have always said they wished they had; especially the way it compliments his smile. He always believed himself gifted by Ilsare for such presence, as his mother was graced as well.

| RE: Vindel Cystain I have looked at this various ways and though I like it we have no dogma for a paladin of Ilsare. Do you want to go as far as to make the strictures for such an order? If so then post them here, and I will flag it for Leanthar to follow up as this is really something that I cant approve without him saying Ilsarian Paladins exist. Posting the rules they follow however will give us some idea of where you are coming from.
I can see your point however, the traditional arthurian knight springs to mind, at least in romantic form. This maybe something that is workeable in a real way. Lets see how it works out.
Actually im working on some Ilsare stuff now, let me see what I can do with tenants and I will send them to Leanthar. You will just need to wait the time due to the unusual nature of your request.

#3 | | | RE: Vindel Cystain Through the Teachings of Vindel's mother he has always adorned a Red Sash across the chest of his armor..
With that, it could be said, all following an "Order" of Ilsare would wear a sash similar. Very fancy material in a very deep red to symbolize Ilsare, and Love.
As for Value's, I would say that the Paladin would always favor the side they love over another. To say, and not come off as Evil, but Vindel would side with an Elven female or Human female before another male, because he is drawn to the Females. Again, this is up for discussion, and not to be rude here, but if the character were to be.. Homosexual, then it would perhaps be just the opposite, where they would favor other males.
Because of the sway of love in them in judgement.
Another I would see is the Code of being LG from the "Alignment Guide" sticky.
1. Always keeps his word.
2. Never lies.
3. Never attack, harm or kill an innocent foe.
4. Never harm an innocent.
5. Never torture for any reason. Will not allow torture.
6. Always helps others.
7. Always work within the law.
8. Respects honor, self-discipline, authority and law.
9. Works well within a group.
10. Never take 'dirty money' or items.
11. Never betray a friend. Ever. For ANY reason.
Though the change I would have to make is that instead of being completely devoted to law, though still obeying the law himself, is that they would be more about the People involved in the law. Giving warning that it is against laws in cities perhaps that weapons be drawn in hostility perhaps, that they would warn, but not exactly go and Enforce to the point of attempting to disarm them if indeed they did not cut down the other person. Does that make sense? Perhaps this can be discussed. I am not exactly sure what would be within guidelines, and would much rather have immediate feedback over just continuing on possibly a path that can not be reached.
Other than that, I would ask that Storm and Leanthar send a PM perhaps or contact me on MSN through way of my profile perhaps.
I appreciate the thought of this character becoming Possible.

| RE: Vindel Cystain Leave it with me a time, Ilsares paladins wont be about law, that is not what she represents. She is the goddess of Love and her paladins will need to show that in some way. Its why I can see Gawain as a paladin of Ilsare I guess, and others of that nature. I just need time to finish what I am currently doing then i can make a start on this proposal. Please understand however the final answer is Leanthars, what I will do is simply an opinion on what could happen. | | |

| RE: Vindel Cystain YearOfTheSpider,
Right now I can not approve this--however--Storm is working on a possible (just a possible because I do not think Ilsare will have a Paladin) Paladin situation for Ilsare. Once I receive his writeup (We need it for the handbook as well) Ed and I will go over it together and make a final decision. I know Storm is pretty busy right now but I also know he wants to do this for you if it is possible. Give us a bit of time and once I read that writeup I will let you know the decision.

#7 | | | RE: Vindel Cystain Thanks guys for the thoughts and efforts put into really wanting this character to become a part of Layonara.
I made an Oath for him that I sent to Edtheket as I've been talking to him a bit on MSN, He also let me know that you both (Lea and Storm) use ICQ more, so I've registered for that as well and will run ICQ Until I am able to talk to atleast one or both of you. I am Updating my Profile with the Number to be viewed at any time. It currently is 239-154-361.
Here is the Oath I typed up. Seeing that Aerindir and Ilsare were "Allies" and not just friendly or neutral.. some things from his Paladins Oaths have been incorporated since I saw fit. This is very heavily just something I put some thought into and put together, It is the very first of what may become many until the Code is acceptable for a Paladin of Ilsare, should my Paladin be Approved. Here it be:
As spoken from the mouth of Ilsare herself:
My paladin, there are things in this world that are beyond my reach, such as the free-will of most dwellers, and in this I grant you exception, should you choose law over love. Should you choose law, know that it is only because I would give compassion upon you, knowing that you would not wish to make enemies amongst those you hold dear, but know that I can not protect you from your decision, as my followers may see this as you not being true to me.
In all walks of your life, spread my love to those you come across, whether a damned soul or not so long as they have a soul.
Many will look upon you with disbelief of what they may see, knowing that Paladins would be for the laws of the land, and in this I do not grant you permission to blindly betray the law. You are, afterall, a Paladin.
For those who walk in your step, bring them to know me well. For those outside of our circle, show them compassion and help them to reach their own goals should they be for the good of the land.
Never speak lies to any you pass, for doing so is not the way of Love. Love is one with trust, and without trust you can not love.
Never abuse me in such a way you would think I would give you compassion. Stay true to me and my blessings you will always retain.
As the Paladins of Aeridin follow, it is Not Pride, but Humility. Not Greed, Generosity. Not Envy, Love. Not Wrath, Kindness. Not Lust, Temperance. Not Gluttony, Moderation. Not Sloth, Zeal. Never Evil, always Good. Bring light to the darkness and you shall always be counted among Aeridin's blessed.
Wear my Red Silk sash for all to view and behold with Honor, Love, and Devotion. Never rape, steal, or murder.
Always remain Chivalrous to my Maiden Followers, for they are your superior. In serving them, you better serve me, for it is through them that I give command. Seek them out when you are in need of emotion, when you seek my wisdom, and if you are in need of counsel.
When you face off with foes, remember they are like you in that they are there to serve, that their actions may not be their own, but they do so because of their values and morals. Judge each foe carefully, and look for repentance in each. Show compassion to a foe that may wish to return to the light; bring them before your councilors to be tried.---
Thanks again,

| RE: Vindel Cystain I know I am breaking the "do not post ..." rule here, but if I can help with the paladin of Ilsare thing I would be glad to. I play Vivian Elishan, a cleric of Ilsare. | | |
