Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

| Severian Khrin Name: Severian Khrin Age: 18 Class: Rogue Race: Human Alignment: True Neutral Diety: Agnostic Biography:
In one of the many small villages that scatter the landscapes of Layonara, a boy was born and was given the name Severian. For years he and his family, which included his parents and his sister, lived out their lives in peace, living carefree with themselves and the other villagers. Every day, they would do their daily chores to survive. Severian's father, Yheric Khrin, gathered wood and hunted for food every day. Severian's Mother, Agia Khrin, took care of their dwelling by cleaning and cooking their meals. Severian's sister, Severina, was on the path of womanhood and helped her mother with her chores so that one day she too would be a good wife for her husband. Severian would always stay at home and play with his toys enjoying himself and the company of his mother and sister.
Over the years, life was easy and enjoyable. But one year, the villages main source of food, the animals of the nearby forest, started to become scarce. Making the gathering of food a much harder task to do. The villages thought they might have been killing off their food source too fast, but infact, they weren't at all. They started realizing that the animals were actually migrating to the south. The villages became worried at this fat. Their main food source was leaving. Did this mean they had to follow?
A few weeks went by, and the food on the villagers tables became even more scarce. One day, about 5 years after Severian's birth, a batallion of men road into the village on horseback wearing foreign armor and weapons. The villagers, angered by their food source moving, greeted the group of men rudely. The men were already careless about the villagers' feelings in the first place, but the action the villagers took made them angry. Severian's parents knew something was going to happen. So they ordered their children to run into the woods and stay out of site from the village. The children did so but were confused and curious why. As the children entered the woods and took a rest, they started hearing terrifying screams from the direction of their village. Both were terrified at the sounds and huddled together and waited. After a while, they noticed the screaming stopped. After waiting a little longer to make sure it stopped, they decided to go back to the village. When they came to the village, nothing was left. The smell of smoke was in the air and there were piles of ash where their houses stood. Then, they noticed the bodies of their dead friends. Burnt an lifeless. Some with mouths frozen open in terror sprawled out on the ground. The children were horrified. Everything that existed in their lives, that they cared about, was gone. Both grieved in pain for what seemed like forever. Then Severina remembered they had relatives in a village far south from theirs and decided to journey there in hope they weren't attacked too.
The journey was long but they finally reached the village, and found to their great surprise the village was still intact. They stumbled to the door of their relatives home and knocked on the door with what was left of their energy. Severian's aunt and uncle answered startled. Severina told them what had happened, and they all grieved other the painful truth of the death of Severian and Severina's parents. Severian's uncle decided to take in the 2 parentless children and care for them till they could survive by themselves. So the years flew by again, and after a while the 2 young children grew older and became more accustomed to this new villages environment. Soon Severina became old enough to marry, and fell in love with another young man in the village. They both moved out of their homes and built a new one for themselves.
A few years later, it was time for Severian to start caring for himself. So he took a different path. Still remembering the carnage that took place in his family's old village, he decided to set out to find who did the horrible deed, and swore to kill them all. So Severian set out, and journeyed from village to village trying to survive to kill his parent's murderers. Unfortunately, because he had no job and wasn't making money, he had nothing to get food with. So he resorted to thievery, and started stealing food from markets to meet his hunger's needs. After a while he started needing other things, and stole those too. And eventually, he started to obtain scars from many fights he had gotten into. After many of these, he found himself being distracted from his original search for his parent's murderers. So he started to focus on his original quest, and with that in mind, he promised himself that he we find the men who murdered his parent's and kill them. | | |
