| Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Having been abandoned at birth, a strange child with odd coloring, Rutae began her life as a street waif. Being of planetouched blood set her apart from any she might befriend and she was soon educated on the facts of life, in particular the differences between good and evil and their place in the scheme of things. She was informed just before puberty that the strange markings that trace her body indicate the blood of Xeen flows within her. Xeen, Mistress of Pleasure and Pain, a dark goddess that many know well enough to fear.
Rutae feels the shame of her heritage like a weight on her back. Her instincts guide her toward a life a debauchery and deviltry, but that's not what she wants. She wants something better for herself. She wants to show the world that blood is not the only telling mark of a person's worth.
Rather than take the easy path and bow to the dark deity, she has chosen instead to take the path of redemption, using her natural talents of mind and body to aid the side of good as a follower of Az'atta. Although she sometimes will ask for assistance from other deities as well, as she sees fit, she considers herself a disciple of Az'atta and conducts herself accordingly.
Rutae's most marked attributes are intelligence and dexterity, one of the few aspects of her heritage that shine true in more than just looks. Her intelligence is both a boon and a bane to her. Though her intentions are good, she often finds herself in trouble, having said the wrong thing or trusted the wrong people. She's learning to use her dexterity to her advantage and has chosen a weapon that reflects the quickness of movement that she hopes to master, the rapier. Recently, she's taken up small competitions of skill against other like minded individuals, hoping to hone her use of the blade and perhaps earn a bit of honest coin in the process.
Although she's still learning, she is no pushover with a rapier, but the truth is, Rutae would much rather talk things out and come to a peaceable solution with other sentient species. She has no prejudices for any particular race, though she finds herself most comfortable with others who can sympathize with her free-spiritedness and inherent kindness. For some reason, the presence of aasimar always seems to set her on edge.
Rutae's appearence is comely enough, with dark hair that seems to border somewhere between black and a deep wine-purple. Her skin is a soft, rosey hue and seems to be traced in greens and purples, like vines twining about her body. These seem to be tattoos at first glance, but a closer inspection suggests that their appearance is natural. Perhaps the most striking feature is Rutae's odd green eyes, like leaves in the month of Mai. If anything conveys the truth of her nature, it is the eyes, for they say the eyes are the windows to the soul. Most don't seem to notice the small fangs hidden behind her lips.

Approved as Rogue/Fighter. You will need to request the PrC at a later time as no character is approved with a PrC at character creation, they are granted through RP and for RP purposes. Please keep a character development thread and update this approved submission with your request when you are ready for your Duelist submission. A character development quest (CDQ) will probably be needed but your development thread may do away with that if it is detailed enough.

I am not sure how 'character development' threads work, but I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to figure it out before I get to that point. I don't mind doing both a character development thread and a CDQ. Sounds like fun! ^^
