Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Nilneun Dewgrass

Full Name: Nilneun Dewgrass
Age: 175
Class: Ranger
Race: Elf
Sub race: WoodElf
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Deity: Folian S'Pae
Bio/Description:

Description: Nilneun is of average WoodElf height, but is thinner than most. His dark hair and darkish complexion means that he looks like every other WoodElf. His tattoos are covered by his green/brown attire. In looks he seems average, in skill he surpasses most.

Background:
Nilneun was born and raised in Darthoriadin, the son of a once great ranger. He was told stories by his mother about a time long ago. Nilneun always enjoyed those tales told to him, the ones about the Dragon Wars and Bloodstone. He also wondered if there was any truth in such stories. He would spend some of his time staring out of the forest to the wider world around him, longing to explore the world and find some truth in the legend. He would watch travellers steer clear of the forest, they feared entering it for the WoodElves disliked visitors. One day while sitting staring out, Nilneun noticed a hooded figure walking into the forest; the hooded figure was careful and apprehensive. Nilneun noticed that the figure was armed with a short sword and a short bow. Nilneun had always been told to shoot people who seemed threatening, but Nilneun did not always agree. He fired an arrow at the ground in front of the hooded figure. The figure realised that he was being watched but could not see who it was. Nilneun told the hooded figure to leave or the next arrow would be his death. The figure turned and left the forest, but Nilneun never knew the reason why the figure had tried to go into the forest, or why he had left with very little argument. Nilneun had always been taught that there were many who did not respect nature, and some who actively destroyed it. Nilneun could never understand why anyone would do such a thing, and he disliked those who destroyed the peaceful forests. This is why WoodElves look after and defend their forest, their home. Nilneun wondered if the hooded figure had the same dark intentions. He had seen orcs enter the forest before, sometimes Nilneun would practice following them, through the trees or on the ground. The visitors never got far into the forest, the WoodElves could sense the presence of those in the forest. Nilneun rarely killed those who entered the forest, mainly because no-one attacked him; he was never seen by intruders. WoodElves may attack those who wish to cause harm to nature, orcs rarely lived upon entering. There had been one time where Nilneun had watched a small group of three orcs destroying a tree, those orcs were quickly eradicated, Nilneun killed all three of them, it hurt him so much to see that others could destroy something beautiful and natural.

The return of Bloodstone meant that the legend was true; Nilneun (a young adult at this time) knew that the return of Bloodstone would have a terrible effect on the world. The WoodElves of Darthoriadin prepared themselves to defend their home, but Nilneun did not, his proficiency with a bow meant that he was one of the most skilled archers among them, but he still longed for adventure, he longed to change what was happening in the world, to prevent the destruction. The rest of the WoodElves refused to let one of the best archers leave them, so Nilneun stayed, however he changed. His heart was always pure and good, and he always followed his own ideas, nothing stopped him. He knew that the others spoke truth when they told him of the dangers outside the forest, where humans, orcs and dark elves exist. He finally made his decision to leave Darthoriadin and the other WoodElves. He had seen Elves travel the roads past the forest, and he had seen them carry Bows. Already proficient in archery and known for his fighting skill, he knew that he could survive any threat to him; he knew that wherever he would go it would be difficult, but somehow he would get there. He knew that upon leaving he could never return. He walked off from the forest and onto the road south to Seldarine. It was here that Nilneun would discover more about other elven races and more about the world in which he lived. He would sit and listen to the elves that had travelled the lands, their stories, some talked of Bloodstone, though many talked about the many varied lands in Voltrex and the other continents.

When Nilneun left Seldarine he was 170 and began to search the lands for the sacred forests mentioned in tales he had been told as a child and had been confirmed by adventurers. He travelled to the La’Mune Forest, and also the Lilanthier forest, where he visited the old ruins of Ovdear. Nilneun also went to the Relishian Forest; he had heard tales of the dark elves and the elven race wars. He had heard that there were old forests on Mistone, and he longed to see them. He set out for Mistone...

Voltrex is a closed continent, only elves live there and those who leave it are rarely allowed to return. This means that if the character leaves Voltrex he will not be allowed return home. Please acknowledge this.

There are little to no humans on Voltrex but there are some orc and giant tribes, I'd suggest using either of those in the bio instead of humans.
