| Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. | Shahania Leafgreen, redone Name: Shahania Leafgreen
Race: Elf
Age: 237
Class: Mage
Align: TN
Languages: Common, Elven, Dragon
Diety: None
Born under a winter moon in the Lilanthir Forest, Shahania was always one to reach for the stars. Magic is his one desire, and he has followed it's path relentlessly throughout his life.
Studying with the magic weavers near home he learned much lore and woodcraft although no amount of knowledge could satisfy him. He read every book and scrap of parchment on formulas, spellcraft, experimentation, and he has tried to expand upon magical knowledge whenever he can for his own purposes.
Research into truenames, summoning and prying information from extra-planar beings, mastering the endless permutations of alchemy and tapping into the power of the planes to strengthen spells he delighted in reading about, for strengthening one's understanding of the weave is like an avalanche with one piece usually leading to many more. Spells, alchemy, rituals - all fascinate him and he feels their pull in his very blood, with gold and fame only a means to an end.
His research many times pointed towards the benefits of combining divine magic with that of the planes, yet he could find no diety worth worshipping, as all seemed either bent on destruction or on goodwill towards all. Neither meant means much to him, as his life is centered upon the weave and knowledge, without interest in good or evil as magic is neither. Perhaps in time he will find a diety or dragon worthy of his service, allowing him to research further into both the plants which are the basis of alchemy, and to create the artifacts and talismans that he cannot now due his inability to use the tools of the trade. Towards this end he has down intense research into the olden gods and dragons ,finding many texts in draconian. His interest piqued, he found much information in those scrolls and he spent years reading and teaching himself the draconian tongue in case he finds not a diety but a dragon whom to worship.
Arming himself with his wits and magic, Leaf leaves his home and sets off into the broad world to fulfill his calling, and to search for a diety whose goals parallel his own.

These more extreme followers of Katia will use drastic measures to prevent the felling of the forests, the cultivation of the plains, and the expansion of the cities. They will not shy from breeding fierce animals and setting them loose in order to make areas less safe and prevent villages from expanding. They will also not shy from covertly sponsoring bands of brigands to frequent certain areas, making roads less passable and allowing them to be grown over again. In a non-pvp/griefing mod, how is this possible?

| RE: Leafgreen resubmission I think L meant that he'd like to hear a bit more about his relationship with Katia's dogma and why exactly he chose to follow her, a human goddess. That's what I'd like to hear more about anyway.

| RE: Shahania Leafgreen, redone I see no problem with this except for:
Align: TN (actually CN though)
Please make sure you play TN and not CN. Acknowledge that and remove the CN thing and the character will be approved.

| RE: Shahania Leafgreen, redone Are alignments allowed to be changed later on in a character's life?

| RE: Shahania Leafgreen, redone Through RP and it takes a while but yes they are allowed. Almost always via a CDQ or some how GM controlled. | | |

| RE: Shahania Leafgreen, redone So if I roleplay being CN, I stand a chance of being changed to CN.
But if I do not roleply my current TN, I get warnings for not playing my alignment and a deletion if the warnings aren't followed?
Not trying to be difficult about it, just trying to figure it out. TN to me is immensely more difficult to rp than CN, and out of character for the bio. Is there a waiting period for how long one must wait for a CDQ?

| RE: Shahania Leafgreen, redone You play your current alignment.. After a few levels and being put in a few gm/quest type events you can update your character approval thread saying that your character is slowly sliding in X direction and give the in game RP reasons that have caused it. At that time GM's will watch for that sort of thing.
But first everybody has to play their current alignment and then as the character advances in game via RP those RP sessions clearly cause the character to change as well. But the GM's need to know how/why so that we can watch/adjust as well.

| RE: Shahania Leafgreen, redone No comment on the draconian ear - I just wanted to be sure early if it was approved/not approved.
