Please find following my request for a new character on Layonara. I hope I have provided what you need but please let me know if you would like any other information.

Short Bio/Description:

Kelion was raised to poor but honest parents who etched out their living in a small farm far distant from any major towns. His only exposure to large numbers of people was when visiting the local village with his mother every month to sell food and other goods.

His mother had spent a few years adventuring before she met his father, but that only earned her many shaves with death and a few pieces of rusted armour and weapons which hang in the shed. She doesn’t speak much of her 'adventures’ from years ago, but when she does, Kelion has always listened with rapt enthusiasm for the life of a person who can go places and be someone.

However it was obvious from a young age he would not be able to follow in his mother’s footsteps. A life spent on a farm certainly helped a young man’s physical stature, but Kelion never developed the strength needed to effortlessly wield the rusted mace hanging in that shed. Instead he displayed an early yearning for information and knowledge which was almost impossible to satisfy on the farm. On his monthly journey to the village he would spend his short break in the musty confines of the book store run by Melkanus. The books were hardly special, but on a rare occasion Kelion purchased a book which detailed the arcane arts. These books taught him meditation and concentration tricks. Throughout his developing years he would spend more time reading and less time working, ultimately leaving almost all of his chores to his siblings.

By his 18th name-day his mother had decided what she had to do. Having adventured with Melkanus when they were younger, she knew he was a wizard – although of minor notoriety. But he was a wizard none-the-less. She arranged for him to apprentice Kelion so he could pursue his own goals, as had she. Unbeknownst to Kelion, her adventuring days had not been quite so unprofitable, so she was able to give Melkanus enough gold to ensure that Kelion had equipment to venture out, if that was his ultimate wish.

Although it was an emotional farewell from his family, Kelion soon focused all of his attention on his studies. It was a difficult thing living near his family but being unable to visit them, however his new master insisted it was an important step in developing the needed state of mind. Melkanus was far from an excellent teacher, but he gave Kelion all the basics of Magic which he would need when it came time to further his own knowledge and development. After a little over two years in apprenticeship it was clear that it was time for Kelion to make his own way.

Again Kel took this separation rather stoically and thanked his mentor for his help and support over the years. He almost declined the coins and items offered to him on his departure, but Master Mel insisted that they were a gift from his mother. Having said this final farewell to the last link to his former life he set forth on the major road to the closest town to see what awaited him...

Suggestion from me:ÂYou might want to define where on Layonara your character is from, if not the exact town, the continent would also already be good. That way you have an answer when people ask where you're from.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion.

His home farm is around 100 miles West/ North West of Luck. The journey to Hlint would have been dangerous if not for a healthy level of caravans and trade plying the route from Luck to Hlint.
