Character Approvals The characters on this board have been approved by a GM and may be played online, in the world.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Inara Carmina

Full Name: Inara Carmina
Age: 19
Class(es): Bard(15)/Fighter(5)
Race: Human
Subrace: Aasimar
Alignment: CG
Deity: None
Short Bio/Description:
At 6ft Inara is quite tall for an average human. But then Inara was never average. Even as a child she had an irresistable charm that made everyone love her. As a child she learnt to sing, and continues to this day, although as an adult she has learnt that her voice can cause almost magical reactions in others.

Raised by her mother, Inara spent much of her time in her uncles pub where she was adored by the patrons. Often wandering adventurers would come in and she would ask them about their latest tales. Then she would create songs based on their adventures and sing them in the pub. As she grew older she traveled with some of these adventurers, learning of their stories first-hand. The adventurers would come to teach her a few fighting maneuvers so that she wouldn't get hurt while traveling with them.

A few years ago the pub was visited by a traveling merchant. The merchant had some instruments for sale and Inara bought one. The lute was nothing special and Inara soon got sick of the fact that she couldn't push the instrument to make the sounds that she imagined in her head. So she decided to try making her own, but without much success. So she decided to leave her home village to find someone who could teach her how to make an instrument that could play the tunes that were in her head. As her mother wept, she packed her things and set off in search of a teacher. She promised to write and her uncle, unusually terse, simply noded.

Today Inara has long blonde hair, almost white, with bright blue eyes. Her voice is mesmerising and has an almost sing song quality to it. It's almost as if every word she says is part of some sort of song. It's hard not to feel at ease around Inara, especially given she tries to be as kind and caring as possible.

Could you please expand this bio to display how the aasimar subrace is crucial to your character. We expect more from a subrace submission than for somethng more typical.

Ok, how's this?

Bio continued:

Inara never knew her father. Many years ago he was found, half dead near the edge of town. No one knows where he came from. He was taken to the pub where Inara's mother took care of him. It took many months for him to recover. Inara's mother talks about how they formed a relationship. He was kind and gentle, and was very hansom. He mentioned that one of his ancestors was a celestial, but didn't know which. The night before he left, they made love. Inara's mother always said that she reminded her of him. "At least you inherited his looks" she would say. Inara hopes to one day meet him but she fears he is probably dead.

Approved and welcome to Layonara. The bio is still a little on the brief side overall but I think you captured the Aasimar flavour we look for.

Thanks. Sorry about the brevity but I was trying to come up with this character while pretending to work
