The Activities of Ozymandias
By his very nature Ozymandias has unrelentingly had a hand in as much as he can, simply to sway the flow of the rivers path. It is peculiar almost the nature of the subtle changes that can occur from this renowned and infamous manipulator. With such in mind, I could not ever hope to chronicle in a reasonable format everything that has gone on in Ozymandias’ life since his last ECDQ. If not for the simple reason, I cannot remember when his last ECDQ was.
Soul of a Lost Ancient:
His involvement can be questioned in this matter. For by his very nature, how deeply is Ozymandias ever involved in anything? Hardly a front liner, he is un-inclined to fling spells of world shattering proportion. Divinity would sooner smite him then aid him by general consensus. In the end he is a bard, he watches and he aids where he thinks it’s helpful.
Acts of Bard I consider noteworthy on the series:
- The Ancient Library:
Donations towards the Ancient Library’s revival and making use of friends as the backers of the operation. The reasoning being simple, the elves would never accept aid from him, which proved quiet true and in development terms. He is even less friendly towards his own kind then ever before.
- The Red Moon:
Ozymandias: “When in doubt on disrupting a ritual; shoot the mage.”
Thou a pity no one heard or if they did failed to act on that. The advice was there. What can be said, people have their legitimate reasons for why they do things.
- The Dragons & Carocsa:
Manipulation was the name of the game, the dragons still harbored some measure of grudge for his prompting to empower themselves. As such direct deals would prove increasingly messy. However pulling party strings and whispering in the ears of those involved, proved to be a useful if questionably effective method. This all came to a climax in which Ozymandias made use of a friend’s emotion to dispose of Carcosa to cement a deal between Mist and Pyrtechion.
- The Blade of Shadows:
Ozymandias is probably the number one source for information on the blade, including all of Shifters ravings. He took part in the failed recovery of the vial as a survivor, the second try at it as a survivor. Then finally enjoyed success and examined a certain shard. What will become of the components is yet to be seen in this story of a world.
The Scrolls of Melezaphie:
In the culmination of friendship, within the alliances of old, you may find a story of summons and a place setter for the future to behold. A treaty of sorts to friendship and the ordeals it must endure for unity to flourish. Thou once again preferring a behind the screens roll, especially while out of quest hours where he feverishly took notes. Of all that has happened to him perhaps this provided the best insight into his soul of all. A short summery of events thou odd, I consider worth while.
- Discovery of the Scrolls:
The nature of things is to support your friends, even in times of doubt. While almost certainly insignificant over the entirety of the series; Ozymandias watched the maturing of his only pupil Eldarwen. With that he slowly took a more and more reclusive roll throughout the series giving small pushes here and there as various people matured into thinking rolls. Something he felt was deeply lacking at the time.
- Of controlling time and the Shadow plane:
Thus would be sparked the incarnate series, to enter unto the plane of shadow for the manufacture of the re-stabilization of the ending fragments of the previous series. From this Ozymandias gradually observed his previous efforts and provided what advice he could. Thou those involved had grown well used to thinking and were prepared for the less strenuous complexity of a straight forward series. Enjoying a few riddles and eventually being able to check off the citadel of light in the shadow plane as places he wanted to visit during his lifetime. Thou he did receive a massive headache from another’s manipulation of time in the end.
- The Incarnate
An elegant finish to a delightful tale, however hardly something that did anymore then wrap up all the lose ends involved in the last two.
The Lost Spirits:
Of light and dark, good and evil, ascenders and those that perished in hate and darkness. So a story unfolds that deals with Ozymandias’ one and only concern: The planes. With the love of books as a foundation a trek into madness his guide, the lost spirits might as well speak of him as well by the luck of dice.
- Discovery
Unto shadows, unto dark so that’s where we were lead at the start of this stories heart. Under spell guard in the home of as was later ascertained a fallen paladin of Rofiren given the un-endearing name “The eighth sin.” An adventure unlike any other would unfold, from an accursed place of wild magic into the Temple of the Viper and meeting his Avatar for the first time. Ozymandias with certain insanity inherent to his nature managed to take apart the series at every turn and twist towards a focus of a relatively pleasant ending.
- The Books
Ozymandias is a living book what more could be said on the matter. To determine their nature, and their purpose he strived to comprehend the full consequences of what swam around him in a maelstrom. Yet not such a happy tiding can be found here, as people readily ignored his screams a child of the Viper yet survived.
- The Fall
Always renowned for his poor sense of humor and short temper several stabs to the back, from those he had slowly trusted. Proved simply to much for his sanity or his health. For one that has survived countless betrayals he has taken to the point of shielding his true emotions from everyone and even himself when he can. Alas such precautions were dropped for the one thing keeping him sane, and the only thing he values his friends. With the final misery provided, Ozymandias found despair and now in the final days before the ending of the series. He goes between on his own perverse logics rules an ally and a taunter of failure that most disastrously occurred.
The Dregar Series:
The central continent Layonara, Dregar has proved to be Ozymandias’ home and as such he has done what he does best. Manipulated people with physical strength into doing his dirty work for him in a characteristically Ozyish fashion. While now seen much during the quests themselves he seeks to keep well informed in what goes on in the continent of Dregar in an effort to safeguard his home. However in one note able point he was deeply involved, in the Drift Lands and the chaos within them and startling discoveries. However with that subsided he turns his eyes towards new problems in Dregar, and some that are indeed ancient. What will come of this, we shall see.
On Ozymandias Himself:
He is Ozy, make of him what you will. Is he a hero, or a villain in disguise? Those that speak with him rarely leave anything but confused or slightly berated. Unfortunately either way they have more questions then they had before. To record date only three people have stuck it out and learned how to get straight answers from him.
What will become of the enigmatic arch-bard of Layonara? Only time will tell, very few truly know him, his motives or why he does what he does when he does it. Alas this is where ideas run sparse; my talent with development falls short with CDQ’s and ECDQ’s. After all I am well set in my ways of letting the players of Layonara influence Ozymandias’ opinions and trust me they have, in quests and even the most casual of conversations in Hlint. Another unfortunate drawback would be his lack of ambition; he is a bard so power isn’t on his agenda. If it were he would certainly be a mage, after all he is smarter then most of them and more agile in magic. With that in mind, it takes third party interference to get his attention or direct orders from his string puller.
