| Daniel's letters to father and mother //Paste of Char submission:
Full Name: Daniel Peotr
Age: 20
Class(es):Fighter
Race:human
Subrace: (If Any)
Alignment: n. good
Deity:
2 Domains (if cleric):
Bio/Description:
Middle son of three and born to merchants, Daniel's only choices for a life of his own was the clergy or sell sword. As the piety of the local priests left Daniel somewhat puzzled, why live in poverty when wealth was as easy as moving goods from here to there? Life was good working for his father, but there had to be more to it than the accounting of woolen goods, arguing with local dyers and sheep herders over prices and quantities. It might suit his oldest Brother, Stephan to cloister himself in with books and ledgers, some day father's modestly successful wool trade would be his. Daniel's youngest brother, Benjamin, who had the song of magic in his blood, acceptance into a far away college two years ago left Daniel with no one. Benjamin's absence and the loss of the entertaining illusions made the long days of cart driving from the shearers to the dyers monotonous and dull. Daniel, a realist by nature, hoped to see more of the world than the south end of his father's draft horse, Rogar. Daniel craved adventure! Hlint promised that chance. Perhaps the local militia needed a good sword hand? Even the slaying of vermin would be preferable to such tedious duty. Old Jack, the local magistrate, had even shown Daniel a trick to or two with a his rusty shortsword. At least enough to appear competent with it and scare away potential bandits and thieves that sometimes waylaid merchants. Yes, Daniel was ready. His father had already reluctantly given his blessing with two conditions - Daniel must try his father's trade for two years and second - Daniel must send word of his whereabouts whenever possible. The first condition was met on his 20th birth year and as for the second, a solemn promise to send word was all that was required. Tomorrow was the day his new exciting life was to be lived. His bag, packed to bursting with a good set of clothes, a small sword, bow and some 20 odd arrows, a sturdy Peotr wool blanket, and enough biscuit and water for 5 days, sat next to the door.

Dear father and mother,
I finally made it to Hlint last night. Strangely the journey to was mostly uneventful, but for the dream of the dragon. The dragon seemed.. determined to have my help which I freely gave. Unfortunately, as the fates will be cruel, I lost most of my gear upon waking and had it replaced with some strange objects that I seem unable to use in any sane fashion. I shall strive to endure with what I have, but oh, for a good stout bow and arrows instead of this near useless crossbow and bolts.
I met a singer of songs, a bard, and another person named Zweck last night. I, being new to town, asked for directions and both seemed happy to help, but alas my impatience got the better of me and I ran off to find trouble in my own time. Trouble I found. Just north of town, I ran into orc, two falcons, and a rabid skunk!. I ran for my life after being blasted with skunk scent, the stench nearly did me in. The falcons swooped and pecked and the orc loosed his arrows at me shortly thereafter. I barely made it back to town alive father! Lesson learned - Fellow adventurers required for excursions outside of town. My funds are diminishing, the local cleric, while skilled, demanded 100 gold to heal my wounds. I was wont to pay it, but did for relief of the burning the skunk essense did to my wounds. I shall strive to do better. I have a goal now - given to me by a guard - return with the ears of 5 goblins. I shall attempt more adventure in the eventide after a brief rest.
The Gods of good bless and keep you both safe,
Your son, Daniel.
//adding some Ooc context, my choice of speech patterns gets more confusing later on and I can hardly tell what I was thinking after a bit of time from the writing. I will try to clarify some things here . First, this is my first persistant world character ever. All of it is new to me, from the commands to the emotes to the player interaction stuff. I struggled mightily to do the simple task of bartering at first. Daniel as a character is about as unorganized as one can get. I started his creation with the idea of being a flexible fighter and or Archer. His Str was an above average 14, not great, but ok. A dex of 16 to help his armor class out in the lighter armors and to help with his bow work. A con of 15 for hit points. The rest are all tens, no benefits, no penalties either. My skills and feats are all mixed up to. I think I took improved initiative and toughness out of ignorance more than any strategy. My skills were Parry (mostly useless) and healing (very useful)and discipline (somewhat) and lore. I played a simple fighter to keep my play simple, but get more than I bargained for later.

| RE: Daniels letter to father and mother Dear Father and Mother,
I trust that this letter finds you and mother in good health and spirits. I am in good health and mood. I finally completed the task given to me by the Guard Quartermaster! It started with the help of a quick footed halfling, a spellthrower, and a couple of warriors who befriended by niave self in Hlint. They showed me the way to the goblins lair and even banded with me in defeating the all the goblins to thier fell master, who's head still despoiles a portion of my pack! How far I have come since leaving home. I feel I almost can handle myself now in the immediate surrounds of Hlint at least. I am learning slowly to bind my own wounds when injured and there are no healers available and to maintain discipline in group fighting. I've also taken up the sword and acquired some better armor. I must confess, father, that I feel myself maturing here in the last few weeks more than the years spent carting cloaks from mill to merchant. I hope the work hasn't been overburdensome for you in my absense. I simply felt I must get out on my own for a while and learn a new trade. I am looking forward to more adventure this week after a brief recovery in town.
All my love
Your son,
Daniel.
//I feel bad because when I wrote this I couldn't remember any of the other players names. I thank you now. This is the point while in Layo most players either know where to go or get befriended and help. Luckily I got the latter. Out of Layo, I start reading the forums and lore trying to find my place and a good role to play. There's a wealth of information here to be had if you can find the time to read it. It doesn't help with quests; however, much to my dismay. I was forced to be a pain and ask many other players where to go, what to do, etc. Berriford loans me a suit of 1/2 plate copper and asks that I pay him back when I can. It takes me two weeks real time, but I do catch up to him eventually and pay him back. It makes me laugh to remember how surprised he was that I would remember.

| RE: Daniels letter to father and mother Dear Father and Mother,
Tis been some time ere I've written and for this I ask pardon. My purse grows and shrinks as fortunes may will, but the hospitality and folk of Hlint continue to amaze my mind. Such generousity is unseen in our quaint village, but here tis commonplace. Pray forgive my rantings and manner of speech for I have of recent spent time at the Great Library and have lored much. Sooth, my speech seemeth to me plain before and the tongue of the olde common be much better and more precise in the telling of tales to my mind. I shall seek knighthood father, my skill grows daily, and with the help of a newfound friend, Berri the halfling, my protections grow as well. I am encased in stout plate throughout thanks to him and carry a warding shield. Enchantment lieth in the very coverings of my feet and helm. My lot in this chapter of life is that of guide and protector, which I see as mine duty. Tis most pleasurable to assist my lessors in the rigors of Hlint's crypts and caverns.
On a most recent expedition, I cross Mistone and boarded ship for for another continent. I remembereth not its name, but Rollie the Scholar led us on the most exciting bear hunt I canst recall. I died shortly after the hunt due to a misunderstanding of intent by a party of the foulest sort of dwarves. Tis no matter, for my soul safely returneth to Hlint. All is well for now. I pray all is well with thee.
Your son,
Daniel Poetr
//lots going on in this month. First, Lin'da takes pity on Daniel and helps him with the oil quest in the Greys. Daniel joins two large raids into the Greys to help others. He is about 5th or 6th level. Tegan helps Daniel out as well with the cowherder in Rilara and with some advice on where to find Farmer Part. Daniel dies a horrible death by Gryphon attemping to get to Farmer Parts the first time. The wolfswood Rangers help him, but one dies. Daniel falls attempting to defend the second Ranger from the menace he brought with him. My first DT for Daniel. Master Berri loans Daniel another set of copper Full plate, the 1/2 plate gets gifted to a Dwarf whom Daniel never sees again for free. This time more than a month passes before the debt is repaid. Daniel meets Rollie the Scholar and take an interesting trip. Daniel dies in the end (2nd DT), but it was a lot of fun. 4th Level I take another a strength point and work on healing and discipline skills. My feats added are Power Attack and Cleave. All that sword swinging has to have some benefits. Daniel takes trip to the Great Libray (central server) and two things happen. First, he reads about Rofirein and his tenets and makes a decision to follow the Golden Dragon, to be heartsworn to the values he reads about. Second, as a player, I start to grasp the idea of different servers and why can't I just log back onto West?? *disclaimer: yes, I am ignorant*

| RE: Daniels letter to father and mother Dear Father and Mother,
I writeth with mixed feelings. Puzzlement be one and joy be the other. Puzzlement at thy words in thee most recent letter to mineself. Thou spoke of not pursuing Knighthood, you thinketh it a poor idea. I knoweth not what happenstance befell Uncle John for he fell long afore my birth, but a childhood memory tickles my mind so. Tis one fo thee leaving a small copper likeness at his grave. I canst have been more than 4 at the time, but I remember twas the likeness of a dragon. What didst Uncle John die of? Pray tell me father for until I knoweth, I darest not decieve mine heart and forgo my dream of knighthood. I must cry thy pardon, Father, for sooth such is my heart bade me even if it shatter thine dream of one of your sons trading cloaks ere thy retirement. Tis with some trepidation and great joy that I tell thee I hast been accepted as Potentiate to the Temple of Rofirein. Mayhap tis be too much to asketh, but I pray thee wilst accept it in time. My strength in arms grows daily father, thou wouldst hardly recognize the boy who left thy shop in Luck those 3 months ago. I now encase myself in heavy armor and carry a mountain of a shield, proudly bearing the the Lord Protectors Sigil. My chosen blade, a longsword, which serves me well. My code is to help and protect all those in need, regardless of station. To pursue justice as given by Liege and Law. To seek knowledge as it befalls me. These I hath sworn in mine heart to follow, Father. Someday I hopeth to make thee proud of mine pursuit.
As to Mother,
I am well and in good spirits. I promise thee to not overindulge in the tavern and to at least attempt to eat good things when able. Pray, take care of Father and see that he keeps up his strength even in the busy trading times o're the growing season.
All my love,
Your son,
Daniel Poetr, Potentiate of Rofirein.
//Daniel makes it known that he follows Rofirein's ways in deed and word. Here is a hint that maybe someone else in Daniel's family was a follower of the Lord Protector as well and hints at why Daniel's father is against Daniel taking oaths to serve the Dragon God. Fertile soil is required for men of good to spring from. Daniel's aligment is NG, which would seem to contradict the demanding LN of his chosen Diety. This is Daniel's personal conflict, the heart vs the code of Rofirein. It may be his undoing as a knight, or it will make Daniel one of the Lord Protectors greatest champions, time will tell. As a player I make the decision to adopt a quaint speech pattern of old english. I think it makes Daniel stand out. Others have called me a bad actor and a fool. The fool moniker I accept, the bad acting, well that stings a little, but I can see the point. I've also taken some corrections on Thou, Thee, and Thy. Yes, I get it - I have several printouts on the matter and I'm forcing myself to listen to Shakespears sonnets to get a feel for the flow of it. No, I don't always speak it correctly. I get lazy and engage the keyboard before I can properly work it out in my head. I'm trying to improve and will take corections. Please use a tell, not //. Daniel gets lucky and is able to join "Exploring the Past" I hope I've been at least good for a chuckle. Although my use of titles seems to be frustrating some players/characters. :P I get my third DT doing an incredibly stupid act of opening a bag without having it checked for traps. ah, lessons learned!

| Re: Daniels letter to father and mother Dear Mother and Father,
I pray thee art safe. No word from thee as yet and the legions of Blood despoil the lands and I wast forced to choose between duty to comrades and duty to Lord and Liege. I chooseth mine comrades and mine heart bade me to do. I have fallen into disfavor with another local Hlintation, Darkchild he calleth himself. Grudgingly, I must give him his due in strength of arms for he doth carry himself as a warrior should. I fear him not and Dark One I name him for his cruel, biting words and unkind heart. I must be cautious in my dealings with him as a brawl in the streets wouldst have be stricken from the roles of the Lord Protector. This I wilst not have. Never. I shall have no dealings with the man from this day forth. If he offers me a harsh word, I shall pay it no more mind then the breeze. Blows to mineself, I shall seek justice in the arena or leave to the constable. Sooth, he mayeth find himself outside the gates if he be so foolish as to strike me unprovoked.
Other events transpire, mine leige, Thomas Stormsinger, remains a great comfort and a whimsical joker. Both qualities, maketh me glad to have him as Liege. I pretendeth not to see the occasional pain in his eyes or the doubt. He is but a man, a good man, but a mortal such as mineself. I wouldst have no other as a mentor. Mine one real fear is the fate and judgement of Capt. Duvall. Little hast been heard of him or from him since the Fall of Pranzis. I feareth the worst and hopeth for the best. As for judgement, I faileth in making it to battle ere the day called. I only ask that mine story be heard ere it is passed upon me. My the Gold Eye seeth the truth in the matter.
My training goeth slowly. Tis difficult to do the field work of combat as I must consecrate mine mind and body each day as befitting a Potentiate of Rofirein. Such meditations art required and I shall have no self pity o're its need. Pray send word as soon as thy are able.
All my love
Your son, Daniel.
//two things as a player here. First is a combination of several run ins with Kiva "Darkchild" something or another.. He seems to take exception to Daniel's speech patterns and general method of communicating. Hence, the bad actor charge. It gets worse when Daniel makes a nuisance of himself as Darkchild and Tegan play games. A minor misundertanding leads to awkward confrontation between the two characters with swords drawn about a foot apart. Luckily, no one goes combative, but to this day, Darkchild and Daniel have a certain mocking dislike for each other. Daniel doesn't acknowledge it, really, but Darkchild mocks him all the time.
Thomas agrees to be Daniel's sponser in Daniels pursuit of Knighthood. This is good and bad. Good as Thomas is just the kind of person, Daniel likes, but bad because Thomas has issues of his own to resolve and probably isn't the best rolemodel for Knighthood. Never-the- Less kindess will be repaid with loyalty(see earlier entry on the heart). Daniel finally makes contact with Capt. Duvall in Pranzis and is listed as Potentiate of Rofirein. 7th Level is achieved.

| Re: Daniels letter to father and mother Dear Mother and Father,
Twas glad to heareth thee art well and whole and thine business still profitable. Thy contracts with the local militia to keepeth them in thine warm cloaks be a blessing from the Lord Protector. My most recent quests went ill and well. The ill starteth as an any other bit of business, a trip to harvest good oak wood for a Master maker of bows. We fought the infestation of spiders and beetles well at first and commenced to harvest. Ere the second tree was to be felled, a horde of beetles descendeth uponst us and we wert undone. I awoke in the light of Hlint's bindstone, mine companions soon to join. I thank Rofirein for the foresight of the makers, for they wert filled with wisdom in the making of these wondrous saviors of the flesh. A laugh and a long wait and what wouldst be broken tis mended.
The second bit of business lendeth itself to honor and glory. A weaver of spells, Godim, calleth for aid. My brother, Jaleel and mineself we answered along with Krys, Starr, and a she devil of the blade, Rayenoir. We bade ourselves to finish the Bugbear captain of Bear Island. I fell thrice and each time was driven anew to life and battle by the stoutness of mine new comrades. Ere, the end we prevailed with no losses and some bounty for ourselves. Mine share twas satisfaction in the job done. No gold didst I take for the quest, lo it did confound mine comrades some. I thoughteth to explain my views, but time grew short and I left them - celebrating our victory.
Tis another bit of news I shouldst mention. M'Lord Thomas seemeth to hath battled death itself. I foundeth him dead at the east gate of Hlint. Upon his return to life he claimed to be slain by some crimson headed black figure. I seeth nothing of the sort and proclaimed such to him. Jaleel, thought to defend Thomas as best as he was able and was slain as well. In light of the two sudden and inexplicable deaths I supposeth I must believe what he says. I spendeth time patrolling the outskirts of Hlint, more to 'humor' M'lord Thomas more than any real fear. Never-the-less, I feareth for his mind. Rofirein, pray protect thy own! I grow distraught as I write and dwelleth on it. Be at ease, I am well and hale still.
All my love
Your son, Daniel.
//Bugbear quest and Daniel gets a new sword +1 from Cronk. Thomas seems to slip into madness. Daniel meets and befriends more characters. Weapon specialization: Longsword, healing, Discipline , and Lore added for skills. As a player I'm forcussing more on what is better in terms of following Rofirein and as a warrior.

| Re: Daniels letter to father and mother Dear Mother and Father,
Blessed be the Golden Eye! Lord Duvall lives still. I receiveth news yesterday in Velensk of his survival. Mayhap the new leaders of Pranzis canst be reasoned with after all. He spoke of his duties pressing and much to do at the Temple. I am most glad to hear of it. Mayhap initiations wilst continue if it be possible. I pray to the Lord Protector it be so.
I have grown in skill again father, thou woudst not even recognize me anymore. Thews and shoulders hath grown long, hard, and sinewy from the constant swinging of shield and sword. I dare boast I couldst beat mine old teacher, Jack in arms. Pray tell him naught, else, I be accosted upon my return by himself to regain his honor. Sooth, his lessons serve me well.
As to other news, I purchased an enchanted ring to enhance mine strenght further for the glory of Rofirein. The purchase of which drained my coffers bare. More questing I must do to regain some wealth. I also hath made peace with Darkchild. Both of us, it seems, reflected long on the harsh words said and repented of our follies. Words exchanged, peace made, anger released. Mayhap if a good man, not a bootlicker, be needed to giveth me honest counsel, methinks he be the one to call uponst.
My Liege, Thomas, hath fallen to hard times. He goes on retreat to reconsecrate himself and I wish him well. He doth task me to take up his quest of slaying the chromatic young and allies. I knoweth not if I possess the strength to do so but will bear it in mind.
I met a Ranger, Sallaron Tempest, the other day in Hlint. I knewest him by message afore, but was most pleased to serve him as we travelled the breadth and length of Mistone. We battled our way to the southern peaks and entered the dwarven fortress there. Twas a grand site, but the thought of all that stone crushing down uponst mine head made me eager to leave. I run out of tales and so must profess my love and respect for ye. Pray be at peace.
All my love,
Your son, Daniel
//8th level another Strength for 16, I purchase a bulls ring from the Raven Trading Guild (it takes forever to make contact) for a total STR: 17, respectable, but probably low compared to most still. Darkchild and Daniel make a sort of peace, but it doesn't really last. He still makes fun of Daniel, even if Daniel refuses to acknowledge the mockery. There's a mention of Daniel early training as a fighter. Jack of the Dale, is an old family friend of Daniel's Father and a man at arms for the wool/cloak busines run by Daniel's father in Luck. He taught Daniel all that he knew of militia duties, weapons, and armor. A low level warrior, he greatly admired and respected by Daniel. Daniel spends a lot of time in the Crypts of Hlint "training" and collecting the coin the undead drop. Daniel is also very free in helping new players in quests, healing and protecting them as needed. Daniel is learning what true leadership is: service to others to accomplish a common goal. No amount of coin is stockpiled as Daniel keeps using any and all spare coin to buy potions and bandages that he uses to keep new players alive on thier quests. Exploring Mistone 1 takes place.

| Re: Daniels letter to father and mother Dear Mother and Father,
All is well with me, but I long for thy company at times. Tis a lonely path I hath chosen, the path of a warrior dedicated to the Golden Eye'd one. He testeth my resolve two fold the other night. Once in the from of what was thought to be a brother, the other with a dark presence. The Brother wast a Cleric of Rofirein. He wast most curt and ill disposed to accept mine help and so I left him in haste. I will pray that his seeming hesitation was merely the fear of the unknown in mineself and no more. Perchance future encounters wilst be more fruitful. The other test is more of a tale.
Lord Ozmandia spoketh with Master Freldo nd others at the Bank in Hlint well into the night. I listened some then left to quest in the crypts wherein I served a Priest of Toran, Dora, for a time. Upon my return, I saweth a strange thing. Darkness clung to Lord Ozmandia as light clings to a paladin. It may hath been a trick of the night, but mine own eyes didst see ..something. I was most distraught by mine vision. Outwardly he appeareth to be merely ancient and frail, but looking into his full countenance, one canst see dark wisdom and something.. undefinably not right. I hath not the grace of a paladin and so canst prove naught to others or mineself the truth of it. I hath nothing to confirm my suspicions and wilst not dishonor mineself with open accusations. Sooth, this ancient one hast seen almost the full breadth of history and insomuch deserveth respect his station deserves. Tis just a feeling in mineself whilst in his presence, no open malice, just an ill at ease. Bah, now that I think of it mayhap tis was the night airs.
News I brought to some that night as well. Elgon, Mercas, and Cym wert told of M'lord Thomas' retreat into himself. Master Elgon was most gracious in response with the news. Master Mercas, not so much. Afore bed, Master Freldo tasked me to with taling the events in Krandor days past regarding the now deceased Archeologist Alvin M'asty. This I did gladly, verily, his accounting of events wilst be the better for my sorry rendition of the tale Lord Protector willing. Thus, mom and dad, endeth my day in Hlint.
all my love,
Your son, Daniel.
//a fortelling both of which may be good. I assist Dora of Toran as I am able. She continues to be a friend to this day to Daniel. Daniel first see Ozmandia at the Freelancers for his telling of the war of Blood. Daniel's initial reaction is one of great respect, but there this nagging at the back of mind, that something is not quite right with Ozmandia and Daniel's freak vision in Hlint only confirms his gut feelings. Not being a Paladin and therefore not possesing true grace, Daniel laughs it off uneasily. Interactions with Ozmandia are usually 1.) alchohol aided in some way 2.) handled with a lot of stiff respect and reserve. The old elf simply makes the hairs on the back of Daniel's neck stand straight up! Daniel shares what he knows of Thomas' retreat with Thomas' friends at the bequest of Lord Thomas.

| Re: Daniels letter to father and mother Dear mother and father,
A quick telling of the mine journey to the depths of Haven's mines. As is the way of the hardy adventurers in Hlint, several awaited at the benches on an early morn. Friend Drogo, an elven druid, Rain Darsus, Ranger and Captain, Mercas the weaver of spells, Brother Jaleel, Dora of Toran, Roy Aynsworth, and mineself decided to set out for Haven after a brief discussion. Rain, henceforth called Captain Darsus in mine tale, led the group ever downward into the haunted mines. Captain Darsus commanded as a leader should, maintaining a disciplined line whilst Drogo in cat form lured each foolish Ogre unto our waiting blades. His counsel in fighting lead us to ever greater victories and we soon foundeth ourselves fighting the main Ogre of the mines. Afore we couldst engage, Master Mercas unleashed his summoned Celestrialat the behest of the party on the beasts and most wert soon undone. We smote the remainder and quickly gathered what iron we could after collecting the leaders head for bounty. Our escape from those fell mines was most wrought with danger. Afore we couldst flee, the enemy returneth with reinforcements. Many a time, Friend Drogo wouldst lead the ogres round the chamber narrowly amissed by lethal blows whilst we stood back to back fighting for our very lives. At one point, the party wert pinned and rushed from fore and flank and we barely escaped. We fell elated but exhaused at the entrance and slept for a time. Daylight never looked so good by the end of our stay in Haven mines. I salute Capt. Darsus, Master Mercas, and Friend Drogo for thine assistance in this quest.
Be easy, mother and father, for I writeth thou from the inn in Hlint as I drink yet another er, grape juice as I await a Karana Elksoul to discuss mine new shield.
All my love,
Your son, Daniel.
//the characters of Rain Darsus, and Mercas, and Drogo take a group to Haven mines. Rain does an excellent job teaching all of us how to 'cut' ogres by leading them into doorways where a group of blades rip em apart. His leadership is a example of the right way to handle the mines. Drogo makes use of his cat form to comically outrun the lumbering Ogres-buying the party time in one tight spot, while Mercas uses his formidable magic to finish the boss fight. I thought it great fun. I purchase a shield from the unnamed guild and to date still owe 1200 coin on it.

| Re: Daniels letter to father and mother Dear Mother and Father,
I wert most sorry to hear that old boxer, mine old donkey hast past on in thy latest letter. He wert mine dear friend and companion on many a run from Luck to Haven and back. I hath not the heart to even consider purchasing another animal for the time being. Mine new shield tis a marvel and all that I hath hoped it to be. Its divine light lights the darkness well and mine torch hast long since been cast to the waste barrel. I stay in Hlint these long days, meditating on the Lord Protector. Sole exception being a brief foray to visit Farmer Part with Ifion of Aregen and Praylor the warrior. Farmer Part exceggerates his problem with his scarecrows o're much methinks. Verily, naught a one couldst be found despite his protestations to the contrary. The hours grew long and I wert forced to depart from thier company afore nightfall, but Ifion swore to return later with Praylor. I wilst pray for the successful rid of Farmer Part's problem and if thou mindest not for thou as well. The All Seeing watch o're you.
All my love,
Your son, Daniel.
//reference as to why Daniel doesn't use pack ox's, they just end up dead most times. Ifion, Darren, Praylor, and Daniel set out for Rilara to help Praylor with Farmer Part. We must have caused the trigger to fail as there were no Scarecrows at Farmer parts to help with even though Praylor recieved the quest.

| Re: Daniels letter to father and mother Dear Mother and Father,
I am humbled yet again, not by strength of arm, but by the spirit of those who dwell in Hlint. Disparaged and alone, The Lady Tegan once again raised mine soul to the light with an offer to go exploring in the wood. Later on I banded with more like minded and went amining in Haven. Both forays wert fruitful and pleasant. The Explorer's of Mistone set out again to explore the mountains south and to find an entrance to the underdark. Both initial goals wert successful, but relatively uneventful. We continued apace as a group and soon found ourselves deep in eyebeast terrritory, I know not where. A foolish move on mine own part, I rushed at three of the eyebeasts afore thinking it through, I scarce hadst time to think on it afore I fell. My spirit lingered wherein I fell, some hope that I might be revived. Seeing mine companions anguish at mine unreleased death and without the means to reviveth me, I released mine hold and found mineself standing in the light of the bindstone in Hlint weakened yet whole. The soul mother claimed me not, Rofirein be praised! I retired for a time to praise and reflect. Upon my return, Master Exodus and Miss Lilly sought brave souls for the Battle Fens. Meeting up with Freldo in Port Hampshire we smote lizardmen and trolls of all colors alike. A master Kavil wert with us as well. Lyle and Aeryn completeth our party. I performed some small duty for Miss Lilly by portering her ore to the crafthall. Miss Lilly replaced her old Bronze plate with new of Iron and soldeth me her old armor. Twill take some work, but the old wilst become mine new. Alas, now I but owe the unnamed and Miss Lilly some thousands coin. I tire of the pauper role, but wilst not give over helping those lessor than mineself, despite the costs. Hard work be the answer and true heart the way as thou hast taught me , father.
Rofirein Bless thee both.
All mine love,
your son, Daniel.
//Daniel misses Exploring the past for the first time in 4 sessions due to RL and I'm bummed. Tegan helps out with a trip to Rilara and Haven. Exploring Mistone 2 takes place. Later I travel with Feldo, Miss Lilly Dartforth, Exodus Stonecutter, and others into the Battle Fens. Afterwards, I help Miss Lilly carry platinum ore and she sells me her old armor. Its a lot short. Hopefully Daniel can get it altered to fit.

| Re: Daniels letter to father and mother Daniel takes up paper and quill to write another letter to his folks. Upon pressing the tip to paper, Daniel closes his eyes in concentration, trying to clear it of the intolerance, hostility, and rudeness he has seen the last few days in Hlint and replace those images with the happy children of Roldem, playing with the "swords" of sticks and shields of wood Daniel provided them with. With such thoughts in his mind Daniel offers up a prayer: "Mine Dear Lord Protector, hear mine prayer, pray let tolerance and temperance fill those without such, let understanding and compassion be with those who art bereft of such. Bless all who wouldst do good and make stumble those who would do evil. Bring justice and knowledge to those who art in need of it, and for mineself and thy followers, grant peace to our hearts , so that our toils wilst be fruitful not hurtful."
Heart and head at peace Daniel writes to his parents:
Dear Mother and Father,
I writeth thee with a peaceful heart and good spirit. Mine journey continues on the path of the Lord Protector and I be most glad of it. In days past, I hath travelled with mine new friend, Praylor of Toran, and Shamur. We tempted fate by exploring Storan's Crypt and wert almost undone. Praylor fell, but returneth to his grave for complete recovery. Mainly by strength of arm, Shamur bested the mummies therein as mine weapon of iron wert useless against thier dead flesh. Praylor saved mineself from the rot the mummies inflict by using his divine grace to remove that sickness from mine flesh. We fled the crypt as soon as we wert able. I returneth later with M'lady Tegan and others. Darkchild attempteth to swallow his anger and join us, but it grew o're much for him to bear and he broke off. Mine respect grows for him for his restraint and I wish him peace of heart. Mayhap the affections of Tegan art having the desired effect of happiness for his soul. I pray it be so. The second foray went as well as the first, which is to say, I foundeth mineself under the light of the bindstone in Hlint once again. Foresight and aid alloweth me to fully recover quickly afore I retire for the eve.
All mine Love,
Your son, Daniel.
//slow weekend really, but some fun rp in Hlint and a trip to Storan's Crypt for the first time. Ash Willo: the dire wolf was a blast, its too bad some players are taking things a bit too far IMHO. I'll leave out names to protect the innocent, I'm sure you know who you are. Might I suggest some rl enjoyment for a while to gain perspective - unplug.

| Re: Daniels letter to father and mother Bitter tears well in Daniel's eyes as he contemplates his folly alone. Surrounded by flowers behind the bank of Hlint, Daniel laments his foolish heart and lack of discipline. "Twas that tart Drawna, foulest temptress of mine lord's enemy Xeen that leadeth mineself down the road of temptation with her wiles" Daniel mutters to himself out of earshot of the usual groups that hang about the bank in Hlint. Shaking his head from side to side, not believing his own words, "Nay, I wilst not think or say such of she, for sooth what hast she done but to offer herself to me and I treateth her caddishly with talk of mine discipline and a moment later, in a moment of weakness, I kiss her lips and feel her full presense pressed upon mine chest." Daniel wipes the tears away from his cheeks and smiles at the memory. Looking to the skies above, he frowns, shakes his fist and shouts the question angrily "Mine Lord Hast thou not felt the emptiness of lying alone, wherein the heart cries out and naught answers? Hast thou a companion in thy unearthly home? Pray , giveth me a sign, Canst Love over come all or be what they say true - I be but a fool? I am doomed, M'Lord Protector , for I hath feeling for a Xeenite and I confess mine weakness!" Pausing a moment and gathering his reserve, Daniel sets his jaw, not with pride, but with determination. Falling to his knees and raising his hands in prayer. "I cry thy pardon, Mine Lord Protector, thy path is not one of loneliness for thou art with me always. It is I who turn from thee, never thee from mineself. I seeth that now. Forgive me. As for the Lady Drawna, the xeenite, pray watch over her as you wouldst me. I wilst continue to care for her, but as a sister and friend, if such be possible. If the thou art willing, mine dear Lord Protector, mayhap some day we wilst be promised and canst share the gifts of each other, until then I wilst follow thy ways and await thy commands." With his feelings and thoughts confessed and sorted Daniel rises and rejoins the other Dragon Called at the benches.
//gotta resolve this somehow. Jaleels gone and blabbed the whole thing in his journal. Hope this isn't to 'adult'. I'll keep it a chaste love as it were in the courts of old- no hanky panky. I imagine it will anger and frustrate Drawna some. If Drawna feels the same, then Daniel will have a hard choice to make. Should make for some good drama though - a rofirenite and a xeenite? EGADS!!
