Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Chronicles of a Dark Mage

The moons peer down on a diseased plane. A being named Bloodstone has begun to emerge into this plane once again. History tells of him being a great evil and how he was tossed back into exile by a council. Now there is a council again and bloodstone is yet again knocking on the door of fate. I'm not sure what to think about this, but its obvious a war will come. As I finally settle in here, I begin to think of what exactly has transpired... to bring me to this point, stuck on a world with no escape. Waiting on the brink of a war I cannot avoid. I've begun to reasearch the illusion and necromancy spells that I see as helpful. Mostly for summoning or simply for suprise. Illusions aren't the best summons but the undead that I can animate... there good... The illusions I can conjure gives me better spell selections as well. Shadow replications of spells I already know and use quite frequently. Also can catch the counter spellers off guard and even there defences off guard. Tactics are needed in these times. All I had to do at one time is send a flaming ball at a group of things and pick through there charred remains. Seems with the return on Bloodstone everything has become harder to deal with. I have yet to make contact with the dark one either. As per requested by the ghost from the tower. I haven't even spoken with the other demon since that day either... I wonder where he is...

Default RE: Chronicles of a Dark Mage

Whenever something is to unpleasant, to shameful for us to entertain, we reject it. We erase it from our memory. But the answer is always there... nothing is ever really forgotten... The nature boy made me have questions, questions that I want answered... I only know of one way to search for answers that are locked away inside of the mind... The burning of incence, and of course, mushrooms hehehe...

And so I begin...

First I remember a voice, soft, speaking words I don't know and still can't remember what is said. I felt a wet drying off my body. The cold air touched my skin and there was a warmth coming from underneath like a warm wind. Two hands grabbed me up soon as I was wrapped in a smooth, silky material. Nothing... Fading...

Another memory... drifting further in. I remember laughing... wow... yeah I can remember being chased with laughter... thats a first... hehe hmmm... nothing...

I remember a door now. Defenitly, clad in iron, whipping open with a loud noise that shook me from my feet. Remember the same hands grabbing me. Remember being grabbed up by hands, calmly. I remember the eyes, blue. Crystal blue. I remember the hair red... but not dark like mine... duller... warmer... much much longer... and white robes... a smile turned to an angry frown... then nothing...

Cold... It was frozen. no ground. The wind was hard and felt like it was sharp blades and not wind at all. The light was too bright against the white. The black rock passed by and like a ton of bricks crashing to the ground from the sky it hit me. and then there was blue and bitter cold. The blue slowly turned to black and the black turned back to white. a brilliant light. Then black again but now there was warmth. The crackling sound, perhaps fire... Softness of fur and cotton... blue fur... blue eyes... I remember a feeling that I don't know that much... happy giddy feeling... nothing still...

ugh headache... I don't feel so good... I think I ate the wrong mushrooms...

Default RE: Chronicles of a Dark Mage

I'm afraid the end time is near. The cataclysmic apocolypse refered to in the scriptures of every holy book known to mortal kind. It will be an era frought with boundless greed and corruption, where global monitary systems disentigrate leaving brother to kill brother for a grain of over cooked rice. The nations of the civilized plane will collapse under the oppressive wake of Bloodstone as the fall of the orders will remove all hope and optimism from there once faithful followers. Around the world generations of adventurers will be punished for there rise against Blood, unshielded by there gods which were successfully defeated. Left to be totured naked and defenseless from whole sale assassinations that serve to distablize any further uprisings. Leaving the starving and wicked to fend for themselves. Blood thirsty renagade constructs created by powerful mages wreak havoc, ed off golems tired of being slaves to a godless and guttless system where the powerful get more power and the weak get destroyed and thrown out. Unleash total world wide destruction by meens of arcane holacaust annilating the terrorfied masses, leaving in its tortures wake nothing but vicious, cannibalistic, mutated, and horrible fiendish hordes of demonic killers, bent on revenge. But against whom? There are so few left alive. Starvation reigns supreme forcing unlucky survivors to eat anything and anyone in there path. Massive earthquakes crack the planets crust like a hollow eggshell, causing unending volcanic erruptions. The creatures of the seas unable to escape the certain death on land boil in their liquid prison. Disease incircles the plane, plagues and outbreaks with no known cause or cure lay waste to whatever draws breath. And mortal kind having provin itself to be nothing more than a race of worthless scavangers fall victim to merciless attack at hands of planar tribes who seek to conquer our charred remains. This is an extinction level event, the final world front, and there is only so much time left...
