| General Discussion If you have anything off topic to say or you are unsure where to post, this is the place to do so. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. | time till Layonara/nwn2 I'm thinking of making a new character when Layonara goes NWN2 in jan. 2007. I want that character to be a child of My current character. but to make it work I wanna know how much ingame years will pass untill Jan. 2007.
I can calculate it myself but i need to make sure if the following is correct. 15 Layonara seconds = 1 RL second 1 min = 4 RL seconds 60 minutes. 1 hour = 4 RL minutes 24 hours, 1 day = 96 RL minutes (1 hour, 36 minutes) 7 days = 11 RL hours+ 4 weeks = 44 RL hours+ 12 months = 22 RL days+
I read this in a post in this forum. (that post is here )
let me know if it's correct so I can figure out when My current character can have a child (or should have had A child.)
thanks for our help.

| RE: time till Layonara/nwn2 if the time table In my previous post is correct. Than there should be about 10 years between now and jan. 2007 when layonara hoopfully goes NWN2. There are about 214 RL days(more or less) untill jan. 2007 so the calculation is 214:22=9,73 meaning it will be nearly 10 years of Ingame time until layonara goes NWN2 in jan. 2007. let me know if this calculation is correct. If it is, I might have to go think of an event in Sonya's past to get her child at a proper age for layonara/NWN2. I'm not sure if i have to go re-submit a character for something like that?

| RE: time till Layonara/nwn2 You could calculate the game years between the crossover, sure, but there is no guarantee that it will pick up on the exact day or year that NWN left off at. It could start a long time into the future, where you'd be planning descendants instead of children. Which is the one I like, but regardless of the exact 'when', I don't think that there is currently a set game-time that Layo will be starting in the NWN2 version. | | |

| I'm wel aware of the fact that layo might start far into the future. Still I wanna build in a safe.... something. just in case. Already have plenty of ideas for it.

| If it's fun for you to play, and nobody else get's burned because of it, I feel you're set. I really see time as having no meaning here and rarely will make a point of noting it's passing. | | |

| RE: time till Layonara/nwn2 The official line is that we really don't know how much time will pass between the end of Layo on NWN1 and the beginning of Layo in NWN2. That there will be a jump forward once we do go to NWN2 is a given. Whether that jump is 5 minutes or 5 years or 500 years or 5000 years has yet to be determined.
In other words, there's no answer that we can give you, because it hasn't been decided. Your new character can potentially be an acestor of your current one, but it's really quite impossible to say whether he/she can be a child of your current character. | | |

| Re: time till Layonara/nwn2 thanks Dorganath. I guess I just have to stop myself for a while. I'm sorry but I can't help it wishing it was already time to play NWN2. I'll just have to try and slow myself down.
I just can't seem to help myself having so many idea's for characters. :P
I got a list back home with about 6 or 7 characters on it and basic words to help me create there background swiftly. :S
and then I got about 2 or 3 ideas still stuck in my head. :S All of them interesting characters if you ask me.
hmmm I think I gota stop now, might get exited again and talk to much about the ideas.

Theres the real time conversion. The one you posted is incorrect.
However, an IG time conversion, as Dorg said, will have little to do with how much time passes between layo NWN1 and layo NWN2
