| General Discussion If you have anything off topic to say or you are unsure where to post, this is the place to do so. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. | A Small Rp-ish Question (Having the Due with Pranzis) I saw the rules in the Dragon's Whisper having to due with the Pranzis, and Rhynn, despite being Neutral to Law, doesn't exactly want to get herself incarcerated or accused (again) if she finds herself there.
However, due to some in game Role playing Rhynn found herself ..well...without a mouth.
I plan to RP this fully, and as of now I am using Thos (My Fey) To talk through
Now We all know that Familliars are illegal in the town of Pranzis.
I was wondering if there was some kind of license or permit I could obtain (Even if just for RP/Quest purposes) to allow Thos as my speaker, kind of like a Seeing Eye dog thing.

| RE: A Small Rp-ish Question (Having the Due with Pranzis) You'd have to petition Lord Broegar for that, but I'm guessing the answer would be "No"
*official voice*
Afterall, these are just a few simple laws, put in place to protect the people of Prantz, and the benevolent Lord Broegar reminds everyone that Pranzis was a chaotic place before his arrival. The former government was in disarray after the death of the king. All Lord Broegar asks is for people to respect these laws for the safety and security of the people of Prantz.

| Re: A Small Rp-ish Question (Having the Due with Pranzis) Petition, that'd actually be kind of interesting. HAR. Alright, thanks for the input.

| Re: A Small Rp-ish Question (Having the Due with Pranzis) Just so you know your familiar and you have an Empathic Link, and nothing more at all. What does that mean?
The master (you) has an empathic link with his familiar to a distance of up to one mile. The master can not see through the familiar’s eyes, but they can communicate empathically. Because of the limited nature of the link, only general emotional content may be communicated.
By that above you can see that only general emotional content (such as fear, hunger, happiness, curiosity). Not sentences or communication through a familiar. Besides telepathy and all of that stuff is not allowed unless on a GM run even.
Wanted to make sure you were clear on that. | | |

| RE: A Small Rp-ish Question (Having the Due with Pranzis) It is possible to communicate by emoting. That's how Jennara communicated before the creation of the Sign Language ear. It's a lot of fun. Just don't cheat by sending people tells.

| Re: A Small Rp-ish Question (Having the Due with Pranzis) >_>; Shaddap Dorg. *laughs*
Actually This is a very good learning experiance for Rhynn. And me too. I never knew I could learn so much by shutting up. Maybe I should try it Real life sometime. Har!...However I don't know how much longer I can take the whole Not casting thing. It's amazing the extent to which Rhynn cannot do/fight anything

| Re: A Small Rp-ish Question (Having the Due with Pranzis) Oh, come on, Pyyran thought that guy was going to cut his arm off or something. Next time I'll make it a point to ASK what's in the bad guy's hand...
Oh, and Lynn, check all of your spells to see which ones lack a verbal component.

| Re: A Small Rp-ish Question (Having the Due with Pranzis) Yeah, I got to level 15 about a week before that happened, signed onto messenger to ask around about feats (Because I dont play that much)
Me: Okay I took empower, should I take silent?
Couple others: Nah, its useless
*scowl stare sarcastic glare*
Maybe I can bring Rhynn on a quest to find a way to cast without speaking and find an amulet or something that can give it off as a bonus feat. >_>;!
Also: I went through all of the spells on LORE , to see which ones I could learn without speaking. Amazingly Few.
I have Ray of Enfeeblement and Clairty. Really a big help. Not.
*Gathers dusts scrolls and wands*

| Re: A Small Rp-ish Question (Having the Due with Pranzis) Hehe... Silence Spell feat is... Um... Quite useless game-wise...
But it has a quite nice RP value.

| Re: A Small Rp-ish Question (Having the Due with Pranzis) Not true! I don't know about the Layo AI, but I've had games where the enemies have the improved AI hak on them, and my spellcaster gets nailed with a silence spell.... and then I'm in trouble. | | | |
