| Archer Level Requirements Okay, so we've got a WONDERFUL thread listing the level requirements for various metals, leathers, etc., with corresponding requirements for adding the various enchantments and resistances.
But what about the very few enhancements you can put on bows? Mighty kits and Compound kits.
I'm mainly interested because I want to slap a Mighty +1 or possibly +2 onto a Mahogany bow, but I'm not sure if I would be able to use it.

| RE: Archer Level Requirements well, i have an Oak Longbow, with bow parts 2... it was initially lvl 5 to use, then i've added the parts... it gone to lvl 9 requirement... this is too much, about better things to enhance bow, this is not so good too, you can just add +3 mighty... or... 1d6 massive crtiticals... this not good, if compared to someone's iron longsword... with fire enchantment 2... and such things... the bows could have parts... like infinite flame arrows or somehting like that, would make the things easier, and dont make the bows so poor if compared to any melee weapon (except if you are an higher level arcane archer... but everyway...), would be good.
This is what i think =D we could be stronger, not so poor, with half damage if compared to "any" melee warrior.

| Re: Archer Level Requirements erm, I don't like to see infinite flame arrows and such things since you can enchant arrows I guess with rods. Correct me here if I am wrong. Dunno really about it ... and bows are powerful, not even if you are an AA.

| Re: Archer Level Requirements Yes, enchantment rods work on both arrows and melee weapons.
So, put a Rod IV on a batch of 99 arrows to get some extra punch. Quite expensive... but... well... if you are a "serious" archer...

| Re: Archer Level Requirements I'd gladly be ranged if it wasn't for the damage range... dual wielding i attack three times in a row giving 6~9 damage each hit, ranged i attack only once with a 6~7... or twice with rapid shot but misses half of the shots... i honestly think ranged combat is a massive disadvantage in nwn.

| Re: Archer Level Requirements Except that the life expectancy for archers is drastically higher than for frontliners.
Alright, archers are very bad in soloing, but in terms or realism that is not that odd. They do well in the back of a party in a relative safe position. They spot trouble way before it hits them.
And arcane archers can become very powerful in epic levels.
And really, the damage range really is a trade off for not standing right in front of your foe.

| Re: Archer Level Requirements What Filatus said, archers usually stay back and so they usually don't get hit *winks* Though archers can save the frontliner's life with their arrows if I think about my own archeress who is always welcome with her bows *grins* and you can craft arrows out of hickory, oak mahogany or even yew so you get additional damage. You see, archers are not that bad.

| Re: Archer Level Requirements Yep, stay a bit back and shoot your arrows, let the frontliners do their work and you do yours. Just to let you know, archers can be quite powerful, even if you are no AA.

| RE: Archer Level Requirements mmm is good to know, a bunch of 99 arrows can be enchanted =), but... someone said an archer is not good for soloing... i disagree... archers normally have very high dex... (means good ac) also, the arcane archer, compared to "ALL" other classes has the "BEST" AB. | | |

| Re: Archer Level Requirements I agree. Glenn before he permed was doing 60+ damage on normal arrow crits. Put that together with the Haste that always happens when in a well balanced group and you are doing some real damage, add some good arrows (oak, mahaogany, the right metal tips for the enemy) and you are getting crazy damage all without getting hit yourself

| Re: Archer Level Requirements Usually archers have high dex, yeah that's true, still depends on what armor you're wearing anyways *grins* without any armor I do have a higher AC than with armor though keep in mind half of the battle you loose your AC dex bonus so well heh besides going around in a group is quite more fun
But this thread get out of hand here ... nothing to to with the question anymore, so I will stop here.
Well, I don't really know what a mighty+1 or +2 will add the lvl req of a bow but I guess around one or two levels per mighty?

| Re: Archer Level Requirements The number of levels that a Mighty adds to the requirement is dependent on the value of the original bow. If you put a Mighty on an extremely valuable bow it will not increase the level req much or at all since the level req is already high.
But if you put a Mighty 3 on a Hickory bow the level requirement may increase by as much as 5 levels.
I hope this helps.
