| General Discussion If you have anything off topic to say or you are unsure where to post, this is the place to do so. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. When you join you'll also be able to communicate privately to other members (PMs), establish and respond to polls, upload and download content and access many other special features. Registration is fast, simple and absolutely free. So please. join our community today!

| A challenge: Where are the churches? Weekends I don't play very much so I was pleased when I had a couple hours open up today to play. I'm reflecting now on this momentus occassion, courtesy of some bad, bad bugbears. :-)
So I decided that rather than share my reflections exclusively with the IRC crowd, I'd pose the question here instead. Lucky you! Where are the churches?
I don't mean physically, I mean RPingly. Where are the clerics giving sermons on the corner, organizing worship services, "fund raising" for church festivals and holidays?
I am challenging you, the classes of faith and dependent on a deity, to step up and show some religious spirit. Go back and re-read your deities page on LORE and take note of the holidays, etc.
Will there be any that take up the gauntlet thrown down in challenge?

| RE: A challenge: Where are the churches? I'm not being critical of anyones RP. This is more of an RP challenge.
I, like so many others, have complained about the lack of quest accessibility, etc. etc. This is my challenge to the players to go ahead and make some of their own ideas come alive. It's not easy.
Go ahead and challenge yourself and your RP: Schedule a player event. Do you check the player calendar as frequently as the GM calendar? Go sign up for a fellow player's event.
Let's see what you've got! :-)

| You may want to wait for the extended deity handbook release that will be released (hopefully) before Christmas. | | |

| Re: A challenge: Where are the churches? Well, if people would be so kind to donate $19.99 when they download it, we'd be extremely happy as it still costs $300-400 a month to keep the place running. | | |

| RE: A challenge: Where are the churches? Thorgist was happy to be able to say the prayer before going to Ulgrids recently. He is also quite vocal about his faith but sometimes he gets the old door in the face action going on (hahaha fair enough). As a newby I'm still a bit nervous about scheduling events and such. Once the extended deity handbook becomes available and my typing becomes a little faster Thor'd be very keen to step up to the pulpit and do some bible thumping. The efforts for better RP are admirable. I have learned through association with more experienced players that it really isn't about levels it is about great role playing. I stayed up until five in the morning on Thorgist's first (impromptu) trip to Ulgrids and didn't even really realise the time because I was so engrossed in the story. Oh yeah, the donation will be happily payed, this place is worth every cent and more. | | |

| And, this is still a bargain for an RP PW. Think, we could be on WoW with all the gold farmers and spawn campers, getting PK'd any time we happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and being called 'Noob' by all the 733t people.. or however they say it. Personally anytime someone says something like that to me my first reaction is disgust, followed closely by the urge to swiftly accelerate my podiatrical appendage into their groin region, and then beat them severely with a "Moron to English" translation book.
Vyris needs to lay off the caffeine today.

See how simple it is? A post on a holiday .
| That's fun yeah, though technically it'll be the middle of summer on Layo or something; one has to press the time warp button to celebrate holidays! :P | | |

| Re: A challenge: Where are the churches? Hey Vyris,
Where has Berdin been lately? Thorgist could use some strict Clerical instruction in the ways of a Voraxite priest. My first PC met up with Berdin at the rest area in the ranger's vale when he was killing a stray ogre. At the time I thought he was the best PC I had met and from that moment I wanted to creaate a Battle priest of Vorax *cheers and pulls out Vorax deity flag*. Unfortunately Thorgist hasn't had the good fortune to have met Berdin yet *slumps shoulders*.
