| General Discussion If you have anything off topic to say or you are unsure where to post, this is the place to do so. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. When you join you'll also be able to communicate privately to other members (PMs), establish and respond to polls, upload and download content and access many other special features. Registration is fast, simple and absolutely free. So please. join our community today!

| Lets try something new.. With all this posts about what people don't like about the server I think it maybe time for something different.
A big o'THANK YOU to Leanthar and the GM, Character Approver's, LORE Staff, Website Administrators, Project Team, Writers, ED, Dorganoth (sorry if I misspelled your name.) Orth, Pankoki, and everyone that plays here. thats right everyone.
You all do so much in sacrificing your time with your friends, family, work (which we know is the hardiest) and not to mention the money that comes out of Leanthars pocket and the people that donate to this server.
I know there are things people don't like on this server but I guess you really need to ask yourself do the bad things outnumber the good things? With the the post I have been reading as of late I say that is a big "fat" no and is why we keep playing or why some of us keep "come back".
So with all this debating about what they don't like about Layonara and which it is good to hear "sometimes". I thought I just say Thanks! to everyone (players included) that have contributed to making Layonara what it is.

| Re: Lets try something new.. Good idea for a thread right now! Like you've said, there's a few posts/threads about negatives of the server, so let's not focus [too much] on the negative.
For me, the best part of Layonara is the vastness of it all. It's not only a NWN game server. The RP extends to the forums, to private messages, photo albums for cryin out loud! Hand in hand with that is the immense amount of work put in by the Team. I too would like to holler out a big THANK YOU to all the GMs, the people on the writing, balance, project, etc. teams that keep the world growing and changing. Of course the biggest thank you should go to L: Layo is his creation, he pays so much in terms of personal time and money, and still doesn't have a mandatory monthly subscription.
The players are great, the greatest I've seen on any server [though I'll admit I've only played on a few]. Like a lot of people, It was tough for me to get past the idea of 'heavy RP' at first. That's the key to enjoying Layonara to its fullest I'd say.

| Re: Lets try something new.. Har!! I love it!
My favorite thing about Layo? hmm thats a tuffy.. But I would have to say the way your character can effect the world around them and actually make a diffence.
annnnnnnnnd History surrounding the world. Theres butt loads of it! I don't think I will ever know all of its legends history of past good-duers and I don't want to.. I love finding new things out everyday about Layonara and its past.
OH! Can't forget about LORE.. just...well.. WOW!

| Re: Lets try something new.. It is a tuff one, I would have to say the GM quests, there are so many of them for all levels. The RP is great. All of the new items the team has come up with. I dont care about the level of the item, I like to read the storys behind them, that is very cool. The hand book is great, I hear the new hand book is going to be cool.
BIG THANKS TO L AND ALL THE GM'S

| RE: Lets try something new.. Well what I really like about Layo is that I have a voice. I can give ideas on how I would like to see things done and someone will look at it and give a comment. Either good or bad. I can help shape Layo as a world. That alone is what keeps me coming back.
Thanks everyone who has helped to make this site as awesome as it is !!!!

| RE: Lets try something new.. I have a friend that plays WoW. He spent about 8 months playing and maxed leveled two characters in that time then got bored. I have been on here actively for a little less then a year and my highest character is lvl 13. I have explored perhaps half or so of the world and still get my butt kicked by a couple of giants. That is my biggest Yippeee for Layo, that it continues to provide challenge and freshness nearly a year later. In another year I will likely be up to lvl 20 or a little more, have more of the world explored, and still get my butt kicked by a couple higher level giants and still be enthralled with new experiences. My friend will still be bored. Life is good.

| RE: Lets try something new.. I agree with Desicardo. Ive been on other servers and this one is by far the most challenging and enjoyable. Not just in the combat, but the crafting system as well. The team has done a good job of ballancing the challenges and given us a lot of variety. The mechanics are well thought out (with the possible exception of making arrows )and there is a great sence of satisfaction when I level in one form or another. At the same time the player base is friendly and interactive. The people on this server have a habit of reaching out to each other on so many levels, whether new players or old. This is more of a community than a game. When I first came to Layo I was pretty clueless, a lot of times still am, but the players that went out of their way to help me out either with advice or with their time made the game. It is really easy to see faults with something, especially if its all you know. While I don t always agree with the decisions made, this world is a special place and the team really does deserve credit for making it what it is. | | |
