Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Maximum Ability Scores

Just wondering here so I thought I'd ask. Was kinda goofing off the other day and cast an Empowered Bull's Strength on my Sheild Guardian. Saw his Str boost up to 33, and I remembered that I'd never seen it go above that, even though it very well could. So I got back to Hlint and started my testing. If a regular Fox's Cunning spell was maximized it would give me 34 Intelligence, if it was empowered it could give up to 36(?), well I start casting, one, two, three, twelve times I cast Empowered Fox's Cunning on myself, and not once did I go higher than 33 Intelligence. Just wondering if that's right or am I just the unlucky one with rolls. (Note I'm not at all upset, I mean, how many people can get up to 33 anything? Just kinda wonderin)

+12 is the maximum bonus you can get from spells/items/whatever. So ability scores don't really have caps but the bonus does and that kinda caps the score.

That is the part about the ability scores that nerfs the barbarian in highmagic worlds... their rage and item ability bonuses cap at +12, while the rage could bonus alot higher..

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but speaking of maximum scores, it reminded me of an old question...

At what value does the Dodge type of AC max out? I've heard it maxed out at 20, but i'm not sure.

Also, which type of AC is the one granted by Expertise/Improved Expertise, and Divine Shield? Again, i've heard it was Dodge type AC, but i'm not sure...

On the last part, I'm pretty sure it acts the way Armor Skin acts.. meaning its natural armor and stack with everything... pretty sure..
