Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Light Bringers of Aeridin

I play a Priest of Aeridin and am wanting to multiclass into the PrC Undead Slayer. It was the purpose of this character from the beginning and wasn't allowed to place it in my Bio since all PrC classes have to submit to the CDQ rules. I have a few questions regarding this though and am hoping to have them answered here?

1)in the ORGANIZATION subforum, this group is listed as Paladins of Aeridin yet in the discription and in the handbook it states priests and paladins may join. Just want to make sure I can join this Order.

2) it states that a small CDQ is required by bringing the light into crypts etc ... is there someone in particualr GMwise that handles this or dos it still follow the same CDQ rules in the Character Development Forum? and what is a 'small CDQ' compared to what?

I believe clerics can be Lightbringers of Aeriden, and you just need to request a CDQ normally

My friend Andrios has a cleric of Aeridin that has become an undead slayer and part of the LightBringers. I was involved in his CDQ.

I am sure he will chime in here and tell you more about it.

Andrios?

Yes, clerics can become Lightbringers.

You don't generally petition to become a lightbringer, but are picked.

Becoming a lightbringer means you give up respect from much of the church, because the Lightbringers are a splinter group filled mostly with fanatics.

No, there is no particular GM that handles this, it should go through the same CDQ rules as mentioned on the Character Development Forum. A small CDQ means something like that it won't be an eart-shaking-many-episode kind of thing. (So a single session should do it).

heh, my apolgies. Just found this thread again when I have time to reply. Pretty much what ED the Ket and Ghost Who Walks said. I would add that it helps to have a detailed character development thread. It will give the gm something to go on when he creates your cdq, and will help get you approved as an undead slayer. Of course roll playing that great desire to remove all undead from Layonara helps too. Ask Owen or Iradril how many times we took a slight detour, or changed plans because someone walking down the street mentioned running into some form of undead. Tha'Azail started out as a cleric of Aeridin as well. Pankoki ran my cdq and it was great.

Thanks everyone for the info, i've submitted for a CDQ with Sakura and have started a Character Development thread for this desire as well. If ever online together, i'd love to discuss this type of stuff IC to aid in my desire to become a Lightbringer

I'll be on the look out for you. My playtime is limited however. I am usually on 11pm - 1 am EST weekdays and 11pm until whenever on the weekends. Tha'Azail would enjoy meeting another dedicated to eradicating the undead from Layonara.
