Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. When you join you'll also be able to communicate privately to other members (PMs), establish and respond to polls, upload and download content and access many other special features. Default Books!

This topic is inspired by the new quest series that are being ran by Pankoki. During the first episodes a lot has been said about the history of Layonara, different legends, stories, famous characters, the cataclysm, the wars, different race and much much more. Yet this is all just a small part of Layonara and its content.

So my point is, what ever happened to books? I remember they were proposed long months ago, but they never came to life. It would be nice if players could create books with custom content regarding their recent adventures or world changing events. Also some books could be created by the GM team, where more would be written about different areas of Mistone, the races and the people who life there, as well as many legends and myth, regarding artifacts, monsters etc. The possiblities are endless really.

With the help of these, libraries would finally become libraries. I am a bit confused on how to make books obtainable, perhaps have a special scribing station where you could make a copy of an already existant book. These stations would be placed in libraries, so if I liked something, I could make a copy of it.

Now these would be the average books, there could also be rare ones.

Let's say a person submits a new book, where he describes a story that happened to his character. Now a custom book is created and the only exemplar is given to the character in question. Then he may make a copy to friend, then another, the book will begin to spread, but still remain rare. These would become a whole new market as I am 100% sure Rufus, Ozy and other wizards would pay a lot for a rare book.

Or maybe a rare book describing the pre-cataclysm world is found...

What do you all think?

I really do like the idea, too. But I also know that I do not have the extra time for such endeavours.

I agree. Great idea! Surfed the vault looking for something that might work.Just incase anyone decides this is something Layo cannot live without.

Dynamic logbook. Item capable of storing written text. Others capable of editing, changing. (a persistent book of im not mistaken, ingame changable)
Might need some tweaking since it looks like its prior to the database interface.
