Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. When you join you'll also be able to communicate privately to other members (PMs), establish and respond to polls, upload and download content and access many other special features. Default NWN book by prima

I was told today that there was a book published some years back for NWN. This book although thick, gave the tools and templates for those that had the original game, to be able to design and write their own ideas into the game. I would like to find a copy of this book, if it even exists any more.
Or, better yet, inquire if it is possible for this book to have it scanned and perhaps allow access by this forums membership?

(the reason for this inquiry, is I am having difficulty trying to wrap my thoughts around scripting)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that if this book exists, scanning it and putting it up on the forums would be a pretty big copyright violation, so don't expect that to happen.
However, if scripting is your focus, I believe there are some scripting tutorials out there, at least one of which is on/linked from Bioware's NWN web site at http://nwn.bioware.com.
Also, if "learning by example" is your thing, you might want to check out Lilac Soul's NWScript Generator. It generates scripts based on a series of questions and scenarios. Granted these scripts are rarely 100% the way one might like them to be, but often it gets a scripter most of the way there. Also, it allows you to make a script that's most of what you need, look at it, tear it apart bit by bit, figure out how it works and tweak it to your liking. You should be able to find this on Bioware's site and the NWVault as well.
Lastly, check out the Neverwinter NightsÂLexicon at http://www.nwnlexicon.com/. It is a source for more complete documentation than Bioware provides along with examples, implementation notes, etc.

You could do that, or you could gut every module you have, change things around haphazardly and break stuff in general until you stop breaking them! That's what I did.

Oh. Wait. Bad example. Hm...

Learn by doing or pay for the manual

I'm to tired to rant on this and there isn't enough space on this forum for that rant

Please... don't break laws over a game.
