| General Discussion If you have anything off topic to say or you are unsure where to post, this is the place to do so. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. When you join you'll also be able to communicate privately to other members (PMs), establish and respond to polls, upload and download content and access many other special features. | RE: Questions 1) Houses are fairly expensive, starting in the 40,000 - 50,000 gold range. Houses are not plentiful. Depending on who you ask, there's either a shortage of housing or an over-abundance. Most houses are large enough to share comfortably between 2 or more people. My personal advice is: don't be in a hurry to buy a house.Â
Regarding the insides: You can't "build" it to suit, but we have a very flexible furniture deed system that lets you place furniture and other items wherever you wish them to be.
2) When you first create your character, you really shouldn't have much in your inventory anyway. What you get when you first log in are some very basic things. Some of these things are tools for your PC to use while playing, while others are used for record-keeping, retrieval, saving your character, etc. Typically, you should only have some basic equipment some custom tools and some gold. You're probably fine the way you are.
3) That depends on what the items are. If you're confused, I'd ask in the forums. If you ask someone in-game what your dicebag is for, they should give you an odd look. That goes double for the emote wand. If you happen to ask about something on the forums that is better asked about in-game, then most times people will tell you to ask in-game. We don't like to give away too much here in the forums, because it ruins the fun of RPing and discovering these things yourself. | | |

| RE: Questions In-game items....besides the obvious weapons and such, a great deal of the items available at vendors are used in crafting. Somewhere on these forums is a primer in crafting...at least some of the crafts. The Layonara Player's Handbook is a good source of info as well.Â
Also, if you go into a craft hall and attempt to use a station that requires you to hold and/or possess a certain tool or kit, it will let you know. This is one way to figure out what all this stuff is and what it does. But, you could also ask someone in-game for help with it all, just remember to keep things IC. Who knows, you may pick up a mentor.
Dive in, have fun. Oh...and welcome! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
