| General Discussion If you have anything off topic to say or you are unsure where to post, this is the place to do so. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. When you join you'll also be able to communicate privately to other members (PMs), establish and respond to polls, upload and download content and access many other special features. #1 | | | Question about tobacco How is tobacco prepared for use . . . and please don't use the cop-out line about "RPing the question." I understand that this is a RP intensive game/site/world, but . . . there are limits, y'know My PC has purchased the herbal bag and has the tobacco press; I even managed some longbottom leaf. But I don't know what to expect as a end result, nor do I as a player know how to operate the equipment. A Player and a PC are 2 entirely different entities, what a PC should know as a matter of fact in a medieval style world of fantasy and adventure, and what I know as a RL person in a Technological world are 2 very different things. Items like the oven, refrigerator, the electric light the bread machine, telephone and the combustion engine would make individual in a medieval world look upon one who uses such things as a powerful wizard or warlock. Like Arthur Clarke said, "the difference (and I am paraphrasing here) between magic and science is technology.
Sorry . . . . RPing is good and all, but for basic questions about game mechanics, to RP it out, a little bit too much I think. | | | |

| RE: Question about tobacco I think you could RP having the person who sold you the equipment teaching you, or if you're more patient, post in the Wild Surge and ask for someone to teach you in game.

| RE: Question about tobacco heh. a little fiesty there, Thunder? for future reference, I'd wager 95% of the mechanics, both custom and original, are broken down for you somewhere around here (the forums) and the handbooks that came with the game. just ask for a link to the post where it's located.
We're always looking for another excuse to roleplay, and learning mechanics can be one way. if you choose not to, the information is around to be found and there's no need to give a huge explanation as to why you don't think someone needs to roleplay it or not. the things we don't like spread around OOC are the locations (other than what the maps offer) of in-game places, creatures, and CNR objects. half the fun of the world is trying to figure out what and where and learning from those who are experienced (or think they're experienced )
