| General Discussion If you have anything off topic to say or you are unsure where to post, this is the place to do so. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. | What stacks and what does not? Okay... What stacks and what does not? Concerning damage reduction.
Class: Dwarven defender or Babarian
Constitution: +21
Armour:
Some armours have dmg reduction but a DD gets dmg.reduc. as well.
Do they stack or will the “higest dmg.reduc.” kick in?
Just a thought.. | | |

| RE: What stacks and what does not? Dwarven Defender/Barbarian dmg redux stacks with the epic Damage Reduction feats, last i checked, though i'm not sure if they stack with each other, even though it wouldn't either be likely to have a Barbarian/Dwarven Defender character on Layonara since they require opposite Alignments.
Not sure if the damage reduction granted from armors stacks with Barbarian/DD, though.

| RE: What stacks and what does not? Yes I know that you can not become a DD and babarian...
What I mean is:
example: DD + adamantium full plate + 23 con.
example: barbarian + iron full plate + 21 con.
Does all dmg.redution work at once? Do you add them together?

| RE: What stacks and what does not? As I understand, all DR that has a #/- stacks. As in, damage reduction that cannot be beaten by a magic weapon of any enhancement bonus. So the DD, Barbarian, and armor bonuses should stack. DR that can be beaten by a magic weapon of any kind does not, such as trying to apply Ghostly Visage (5/+1) with Stoneskin (5/+1 to 10/+5 depending on level). | | |

| RE: What stacks and what does not? If I remember correctly slashin/bludgeoning/piercing resistances stack. However, damage soak (like you get on epic lvls from high constitution) does not stack with soak on armours. This may be wrong, but thats how I remember it from previous posts. | | |

| RE: What stacks and what does not? Constitution isn't relevant for this matter, only for the epic DR feats, also, Iron Full Plates don't have Damage Reduction, they have Damage Immunity, which is a different property, and stacks with immunities of the same type, and with DR.

| It's the other way around, Damage Resistances of the same type do not stack with each other, and Damage Soak does.
Example: a 5/- Slash Resist belt and an Adamantium FP (5/- Slash Resist) wouldn't stack with each other, nor would a 10/- Cold Resist stack with another 15/- Cold one. Phsysical Damage Resistances work pretty much like Elemental ones.
I think Rayenoir is pretty much right on, regarding Damage Soak with a limited enhancement, like 5/+1 Stoneskin, etc.

| RE: What stacks and what does not? I meant the epic feat flamestrike, which is only unlocked if you have con 21.
So basically what you are saying is that ghostly visge (5/-, +1) stacks with a stoneskin (10/-, +1)? I don't think it does.
I am pretty sure that slashing resistance from a belt does stack with slashin resistance from an armour.

Yeah, it's only a requirement, you only need 21 Con. This was why i said that in the other post.

| No, I was saying that it doesn't. Because it's not (5/-, +1) and (10/-, +1), it's 5/+1 and 10/+1. A +1 magical weapon will go right through it, and magically beatable DR doesn't stack. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
