| Introduce Yourself Take the time to say hello and introduce yourself and maybe ask a question or two. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. | Insert Clever Lable Here Well..
I enjoy being thought of as .. whatever you've tagged me as, but I'm feeling the peer pressure, so I'll offer up at least a glimpse.
My real name is Josh, born the same year as Aeonblues. Yeah, freaky. I'm a happily married 34 year old father of two kids (5 and 2 -- it's my son the two year old who falls asleep laying on top of me every night as I'm dancing across Layo). I've been playing D&D since the days of piles of funny colored dice. In college, I switched from D&D to Vampires the Masquerade. I ran a campaign that spanned the better part of my junior and senior years and some of the post graduate years. College was also my introduction to text based MUD's and MMPORGS, an obsession that lead me to Layo. For several years, I played the text based predecessor to WoW -- Gemstone. I am the obsessed type who would pay $1000 for a computer to play a text based MUD.
I majored in English and write really bad short stories and poetry. Besides Layo, you can find me with my family in the woods hiking and camping or on a bicycle -- I completed my first century (100 mile in one day ride) the year my daughter was born and I'm a dedicated cycle commuter. You have to be a bit insane to ride your bike to work in New England. I work currently as a telephone company line retention specialist, but I'm working my way towards becoming a full time Unitarian Universalist minister.
So there's a glimpse and don't ask for pictures. Every time a camera points in my direction, it shatters into a thousand pieces. | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Redhawk For This Useful Post:

| Re: Insert Clever Lable Here Okay This may once again seem stupid but: What's a Unitarian Universalist? You don't have to answer here or at all if you don't feel comfortable with it. I don't want these things turning into a religion discussion but I'm interested.

Well, the short answer is the Unitarian Universalism is a socially active spiritual community that says there is no wrong way to deal with matters of life's mystery. We are a gathering of Jews, Christians, Pagans, Hindus, Buddhists, Humanists and many others who believe in the dignity of all ways to pray or not to pray. We are a principled, liberal, spiritual community. For more info and to clarify you can go to UUA.org. And feel free to PM me, I LOVE discussing religion.

| Re: Insert Clever Lable Here *Laughs.* Amusing, Aeon.
In a simpler, trekkie explanation of what the UUs are, allow me to say this.
"We are the Universal Unitarians. Lower your preconceptions and surrender your devotions. Your spiritual and magickal distinctiveness will be added to our own. Your culture will adapt to serve us. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile."
And yes, that was just in jest; I do have to say that the UUs have always interested me. They're worth looking into for anyone who's uncertain about their spirituality.
