Introduce Yourself Take the time to say hello and introduce yourself and maybe ask a question or two.

Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. When you join you'll also be able to communicate privately to other members (PMs), establish and respond to polls, upload and download content and access many other special features. Default Hello everybody!

I am new to Layonara and NWN. I found Layonara from a D&D site link. The site talked about how Layanora was a very realistic D&D experience. How roll playing was very important here vs other RPG or D&D like games. It also talked about how getting magic item etc.. was harder and they were more rare here. Like I believe it should be. After checking Layonara out myself I thought it looked totally awesome. It seems much more realistic and is very close to actually playing a live D&D game. As the article said instead of it being like other RPGs where your character gets tons of super weapons and spells and you just blast through everything. It is much more conservative and you have to better manage your resources and you better respect the items and weapons you get. Plus the importants put on roll playing and respecting other players is very appealing to me. From the little bit I have learned from reading the different tutorials etc.. Layonara looks to be a totally awesome game.

Anyway I am ready to start playing on Layonara. I will be playing a Ranger/Cleric named Samual A Carver AKA Sam The Butcher. I have played through some of NWN to get a feel for the controls etc.. I am ready to start on Layonara.

I have a question. I am sure I could find the answer somewhere but havent yet. So I thought it would be easier to ask. After I submit and have my character approved. How do I log onto Layonara. I saw on the game menu the multiplayer options. Like which expansion I want to play on Shadows of Undrentide etc.. But where/how do I log onto Layonara. I didnt see that option anywhere. I dled and loaded the files I need. I think they are in the right spot. I could be missing something obvious, but if someone could tell me how to get logged into Layonara I would really appreciate it. Please give detailed instructions if there are a few steps involved, so I dont get confused

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to meeting and adventuring with you all in Layonara.

Default Re: Hello everybody!

welcome and get comfy cause you wont want to leave your chair

make sure you have both expansions shadows and hordes and your updated to the most current patch which i think is 1.68 dont go to the beta of 1.69

download the haks for layo and place them in the proper file folder
hak file for hak folder
tlk file for tlk folder

once you have your character approval then you will be given the place and password to log in to get started

when in the first area with is an ooc (out of character area) you can read the signs and they will help direct you to the proper starting place for your character

after that hold on your hat and see you in game
