Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. | Songs that Remind you of Layo? I know we did the Player Character Themesong thing. But Have you ever been in an area, or on a quest, and say: Wow! This quest/area/NPC/ Whatever Really fits a certain song!
I have...creepily enough sometimes the song would come on while I'm in the middle of the quest or whatever and Only after would I realise the similarities.
I dunno, Just thought it would be fun to post the lyrics here. Ill start...
There's this story of an ancient Treasure in a civilization in a forest controlled by a vampire or other undead mistress who was once a queen taken under a curse. Ozy tells the story (And twice I missed the ending Darn it) And I found a song that kinda reminds me of the story.
Bella Morte -- Remains
Sweeping winds of greyest passion
Find the four who wander fated
Within halls their scarlet laughter
Is heard unknown from places shaded
Eyes are lined with black of midnight
Lips all touched in scarlet bliss
Tattered velvet, lace and chains
What dead have known such grace as this
Here let us lay for this age
Has sung its last days
Under the full moons' watch
Black is the coffin in which our dreams lie
Silver remains of the time of our glory
Stand where our temple fell
Black are the mirrors to which our fears fly
Pale hands flicker beneath the white lights
In rhythm with the living darkness
Others follow void of meaning
To stand in shadows as if thoughtless
Boots are laced through shining eyelets
Cobwebs line the greying hall
The dance goes on but pales without you
As winter turns to see the fall
Through warmest nights of starlit skies
My eyes must find another life
Where once we hoped to ever be
The only ones who understood
We now must face the coldest truth
That precious little matters now
For what we felt forever breathes
Within the silver by the sea

A bit cruel, but that's all my mind's ear really hears.

| RE: Songs that Remind you of Layo? Rhynn,
A little off topic but have you heard Save Me by Aimee Mann? Makes me think of Rhynn when I hear it...
Oh and songs that remind me of Layo... Let the Bodies Hit the Floor by Drowning Pool

It is based on a lot of different sources though and will change as I expand and combine songs and things.

Tyrian - TOTAL agreement about Rhynn's song, there.
As for Layonara... The heavier Bach usually fits for CNR trips and darker caves, but the Planets Suite will fit all other occasions.

| Re: Songs that Remind you of Layo? Read the lyrics to that song Tyrian, I agree as well...
Hrm. Ice Queen by Within Temptation. Reminds me of two Peopleish things in Layo....See if you can guess the two.
For your enjoyment:
When leaves have fallen
And skies turned into grey.
The night keeps on closing in on the day
A nightingale sings his song of farewell
You better hide from her freezing hell
On cold wings she's coming
You better keep moving
For warmth, you'll be longing
Come on just feel it
Don't you see it?
You better believe it.
When she embraces
Your heart turns to stone
She comes at night when you are all alone
And when she whispers
Your blood shall run cold
You better hide before she finds you
Whenever she is raging
She takes all life away
Haven't you seen?
Haven't you seen?
The ruins of our world
She covers the earth with a breathtaking cloak
The sun awakes and melts it away
The world now opens its eyes and sees
The dawning of a new day
Whenever she is raging
She takes all life away
Haven't you seen?
Haven't you seen?
The ruins of our world
