| Just for Fun A forum section to lighten your day with jokes, funny links, and things that make you laugh. Keep them clean and remember this is a family server. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. | In Praise of Folly? What's the most (or one of the most) idiotic things you've ever done, on Layonara?
Mine happened but moments ago!
A certain halfling sorceress sets out with five courageous friends to the dreaded Bear Island in hopes of lobbing the Chieftain's head.
Shortly after arrival, a group of the lovely critters is spotted.
Ariel: ..Boom?
Ced: Yes.
Ben: Yeah, hit it.
<Ariel fireballs critters>
A valiant battle ensues - that is, until a second group of said critters comes crashing in.
One by one, the courageous friends fall to the earth, hacked to bits.
Miraculously surviving a barrage of bolts and arrows, Ariel ducks and hits the invis button. Then runs like hell.
Cackling to herself for her good fortune to be the sole survivor, she heads to the inn for a rest - a good night's sleep being sorely needed, she having only 3 hp left.
<hits R>
<Endurance gets cancelled>
<Someone has killed Ariel Applerose>
. . .
And that was very, very, very, stupid.

| Re: In Praise of Folly? Two Things I remember.
The First Time I saw the Bird Lord, After 2 months of playing, New to NWN , but used to normal MMORPGs Where Donaters get special benefits.
I see this guy with wings. So I send a Tell to Annaleee :
Rhynn[Tell]:Oh Cool How Much Do I have To Donate! What Level Do I have To Be How long do I have to be here to get wings too!?
She just laughed at me....
Another embarassing moment was during a quest where I rolled for someone to have the GM Answer "No dice" as in "It didn't work" I didnt roll again even when asked for a while until asked what was wrong...
Im a ditz.

| Re: In Praise of Folly? Not so much any of my fault, but this was one of the bug reports I made way back when Skald was broken...
Farros just got his new powers and wanted to test them out.. so he decided to take it slow and see what the goblins outside Hlint would do with a terrifying bellow. He ran up to the base of the hill and spelled up with Haste, barkskin, strength, mage armor, etc... the works... sang for himself then charged into the center of the goblins for the terrifying bellow...
which affected EVERYBODY on the screen, including Farros!
So basically he became the first man so scary that the sound of his own wail drove him to wet himself and flee, alongside 40 goblins. Pretty much EVERYTHING was affected, so Farros had to sit in the corner, hugging the goblins and screaming... "DRAGONS! DRAGONS ABOUT US!!! AAAIIEEEEE!!!! SAVE ME LITTLE GOBBOS!"
Fian, Brutus and Skabot were all just sitting there watching & laughing their collective arses off. | | |

| Re: In Praise of Folly? Sneaking out of some swamp or another, its going rather slow, having to stealth and walk through the swamp. So, the obvious thing to do, about half a screen away from the exit...
drop stealth.
It was not only sad, it was also painful.

| Re: In Praise of Folly? Dalan's one and only time he could make a quest was to travel to Dregar with a group that Eight-bit was running. The way to the camp was guarded by archers along a narrow valley that lead to their camp. Someone suggested casting invis on Dalan and other fighters and letting them to sneak up on the archers. Well of course being invisible and not seeing if others were also invisible, he ran down the valley around the defenders to the last archer standing on the hill. He promtly learned he was the only fighter that went, that the archer had reinforcements and that when you die that far away, your stuck till the end. Moral of the story wait for the leader to say GO and don't always listen to mages!
Actually it was a dumb thing to do and as soon as started I realize how stupid it was. Too bad didn't realize it until committed to the action. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
