| Just for Fun A forum section to lighten your day with jokes, funny links, and things that make you laugh. Keep them clean and remember this is a family server. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. | RE: Familliars hmm I like the Imp for a few reasons...firstly it's a tough little critter with a poisoned attack reaching deadly poison, it is regenerating and it has some nifty invisiblity spells which always come in useful. The other reason I like it is that its of lawful evil alighnment whereas Bil is chaotic good and this leads to funny RP between the two

| RE: Familliars The breath weapon of the pseudo dragon (especially higher level) is a real crowd pleaser. The punishment the panther can take is respectable, however.

| RE: Familliars Pixie all teh way for this old wizard, makes for an interesting dicotomy. Pixie also enable Improved invis, and a great sneak attack taht works well, and most of all you have the abilities of a thief of your own level.

| RE: Familliars  When choosing my familiar, I had to go for the RP factor. Lived in the Underdark, big big cave. Bat kinda made sense. He stinks in combat, and probably always will, but he's used more as a carrier pigeon anyway.

| RE: Familliars  Thought about the eyeball but decided not to go with it, but I'm pretty sure Giant Spiders are only for Druids/Rangers. If there were spiders I missed it.

| RE: Familliars Depends on my alignment when I'm a mage. I pretty much always play neutral, so mephits tend to be what I have as an option. And some of the animals. Since I tend to play envokers, mephits. My last invoker has a ice mephit named Pale.
When I play a druid its always a bear. Always. Bears for teh win.

| RE: Familliars Yea, ZV, that's why I chose Pixie, pure RP. If you read my character Sub and my char developement you see how the old venerable mage gets stuck with a hardened battle pixie. I think it's fun to RP her.

| RE: Familliars Eyeballs are NE. I just HAD to choose one for my CG inventor gnome for the ongoing nefarious rebellion factor. I RP him as a biological experiment gone horribly wrong, an oxes eyeball accidentally stored in a bottle of enchanting oil, warped by the fluctuations in the weave cause by his spellcasting. As he was born a hideous freak without hands, Mr QUimby is a very bitter and twisted individual bent on revenge against his maker Brilligimble, and the rest of the world out of rageful hand-envy.

| RE: Familliars I figure this is a large group of rangers or wizards responding to this because I see how a brown bear has a small percentage of votes, either way.. bornw bear or a dire wolf are the elite for the druids, they amount massive power and constitution, added the magic fang, they are hurting ppl like there is no tommorow.. so either of those I support. | | |

| Slightly off topic for a moment, but my band covered that song!
Back on topic though, I took the giant spider for RP reasons as well, it's poison attacks are nice, but it needs a higher HP to be of real use to me. | | |
