Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. When you join you'll also be able to communicate privately to other members (PMs), establish and respond to polls, upload and download content and access many other special features. Default Musings: add to them as ye are inspired

Cheese goes incredibly well with beer, for that which beer makes liquid, cheese keeps solid. It's a drunked zen balance!

I'm not a beer drinker, I'm a liquid grain consumer.

A British Comedian 'Peter Kay' made these interesting observations:

Triangular sandwiches taste better than square ones.
At the end of every party there is always a girl crying.
You're never quite sure whether it's ok to eat green crisps.
Everyone who grew up in the 80's has entered the digits 55378008 into a calculator.
Reading when you're drunk is horrible.
Sharpening a pencil with a knife makes you feel really manly.
You're never quite sure whether it's against the law or not to have a fire in your back garden.
Nobody ever dares make cup-a-soup in a bowl.
You never know where to look when eating a banana.
Its impossible to describe the smell of a wet cat.
Prodding a fire with a stick makes you feel manly.
Rummaging in an overgrown garden will always turn up a bouncy ball.
You always feel a bit scared when stroking horses.
Everyone always remembers the day a dog ran into your school.
The most embarrassing thing you can do as schoolchild is to call your teacher mum or dad.
The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.
Some days you see lots of people on crutches.
Every bloke has at some stage while taking a pee flushed half way through and then raced against the flush.
Old women with mobile phones look wrong!
Its impossible to look cool whilst picking up a Frisbee.
Driving through a tunnel makes you feel excited.
You never ever run out of salt.
Old ladies can eat more than you think.
You can't respect a man who carries a dog.
There's no panic like the panic you momentarily feel when you've got your hand or head stuck in something.
No one knows the origins of their metal coat hangers.
Despite constant warning, you have never met anybody who has had their arm broken by a swan.
The most painful household incident is wearing socks and stepping on an upturned plug.
People who don't drive slam car doors too hard
You've turned into your dad the day you put aside a thin piece of wood specifically to stir paint with.
Everyone had an uncle who tried to steal their nose.
Bricks are horrible to carry.
In every plate of chips there is a bad chip.

All of them so very true

Some of the best things I have seen NWN characters get attacked (and/or killed) with:
Umbrellas (evil rogue character dresses up as a lady, defends her honor with her umbrella, getting sneak attack damage)
Dead Babies (used effectively as a club... again, sneak attack damage was applied, making it the most dangerous dead baby ever)
A book (my wizard on another server got caught during his studies and promptly died after managing to do about 5 points of damage with his spellbook)
A violin bow (bard/rogue would be deadly with this item)

Wishlist:
A ladies' fan (think Japanese war fan with razors in the end)
A ladies' handbag (throw some ball bearings in the bottom, you got a sap.. haven't seen one in the toolset yet, but i just know someone will make one that is equippable in the weapon hand)

If Achilles had only opted to get a heel amputation, he'd have been truly INVINCIBLE!

** WARNING ** For those that have not seen the movie SIGNS, do not read.

Although I thought it was a good movie....

Why would a highly sophisticated alien race with faster than light technology invade earth with naked infantry that die when exposed to water? From space they would have noticed that like two-thirds of our planet was covered with the stuff! (Let alone attacking Rio De Janiro - where it rains every 15 minutes during some seasons).

Loved the movie, this aspect just ruined the "threat" the aliens posed.

Just my thoughts.
