Hilm castle
« on: November 26, 2009, 09:35:30 am »
There remains persistent rumours of dangers at Hilm despite a recent expedition that supposedly proved the Green Cult was currently not active in the area. Confidence in the authorities there was shaken by rumours of a weakened leadership beset by ill health.

*A Knight clad in blue and gold , is seen over Hilm Castle from time to time, continually taking small trips into the surroundings ,

From time to time he's seen with the troops bringing news of the near forest and instilling the troops to have faith in the authorities.

-There are times of test for everyone, But must not forget what is our fine duty here, how important is our job in this castle, We are the defense of the world, A great honor we have here, This is a test and the enemy must not see doubt in our eyes, not today. -

Nobly said Sir Lance; a most valiant and upright speech.

Now, where did you say the food was?

Upon hearing of the events  on This situation  Lance checks out the next time he arrives to Hilm, he looks around and ask for an update on the situation on the current activities and sightings of the cult, he moves alongside some rangers to investigate and try to gain informaton on how the situation was done, and if there are more sightings around.

Once the patrols are sent and the patrols returned, he sets himself for a trip for Huangjin.

The knight in blue and gold arrives to Huangjin carrying a small package.

Sir Lance is provided with clear details of the event as recalled to the authorities of Fort Hilm by the adventuring group who investigated the massacre site at Ozlo's Tower.

A Unit of 40 men and woman set up to patrol the area due to a prior sighting of Drachs in the area were wiped out by a small Drach and Cult member unit who swept in from the West without warning and overran the campsite killing them to almost the last man. That last man was a scout returning on horseback from patrol who saw the battle and turned and fled but not before a Cult member shot him with an arrow in the back.

Authorities inform Sir Lance that this is now the second incursion to the area around Ozlo's Tower by the Cult. The second one being deadly to the Hilm soldiers.

They also inform Sir Lance that at this point in time their armies are probably the most experienced with fighting the Cult on the ground but just can't overcome their power and strength.

News of improvements after a period of what has been described as failing leadership at Hilm when incursions and threats against the protectorate have increased. After a long absence the Company of Lance Stargazer has returned to the Castle and retaken it's place. The leadership led by Alexander Fortain have been more active in and around the army. Forces and equipment have been brought up to strength and the army has embarked on a serious of manouvres designed to prove Fortain and the Protectorate both fit for purpose. Troops from the Stargazer Company have been kept busy gathering and moving information to their secure headquarters within the castle. They are reportedly working on long lost lore trying to interpret signs from the past.

Local forces slowly but surely are brought back to peak condition. Some talk of a new vibrant spirit around the castle hides the fact that the Company of the Star is nowhere to be seen.

The death of another prominent servant of Vorax near the castle has done little to reassure the faithful that the forces of Hilm are winning the good fight. Rumours persist that the once darling of the city  - the company of the Star has remained inactive in these perilous times  - devoted to the solving of some child's puzzle. Officials at the castle were quick to dismiss these rumours and reassure citizens the army of Hilm stands true.

Amid routine incursions by giants, cultists, and trollocs The army of Hilm was modestly cheered by news that the Company of the Star was in the field, though some distance from Hilm. Rumours circulating around Hilm suggest the Company is on its way back from overseas duty.

Farmers on the outskirts of Hilm were terrified today as during the routine burning of cleared lumber debris a towering elemental of fire stepped forth.

The creature demanded the presence of one Argali Trueaxe. When the creature realised the farmers were too terrified to speak it burned down a barn then leapt back into the bonfire.

A contingent(1) of the Company of the Star return to Castle Hilm, amongst them a certain copper haired dwarven lass. On hearing the [POST=1646192]news[/POST], she gathers what details can be had from about the castle before heading out to the place of the sighting. She brings with her no small means of reparation for the stricken farmers and their beleaguered barn.

(1) deliberately vague term of quantity

Lance leading the company with ease mood , frowns as he hears the news, making notes of the attack, he looks over the people carrying the fountain, and then smiles at Argali, he tells her that he'll do what ever is posible to help investigating what happened there, just asking : Do you have any idea of why this happened?

A new Fountain was dedicated to Toran within the Castle walls. The story of it's recovery appears to be having an inspirational effect on the troops stationed at this dangerous outpost. The fountain it seems has long been used to supply Toranites with a welcome moment of cooling peace in trying times.

The Temple of Toran have endorsed the Fountain declaring it a site of prayer and reflection for Toranites and all who value their conducts of Virtue.

Lance Stargazer's Company of the Star were instrumental in the fountain's recovery, and were a natural choice for ongoing commitment to the Fountain. Stargazer himself was appointed Captain of the Hilm Shrine, to go with his other titles.

After the [POST=1650472]installment[/POST] of the fountain, Argali makes her way to the site of the [POST=1646192]conflagration[/POST], possibly accompanied by a contingent of the Company of the Star. Not much is to be found amongst the ruins of the barn, nor information from any farmers not too shaken to speak with them. Nonetheless, they do their best to compensate the farmers for their loss, delivering some measure of supplies and means to replace the lost barn.

Some time later(1)...

A certain copper haired dwarven lass emerges from the borderlands about Hilm. She looks very concerned. She heads into the castle proper, and demands to speak to the Lord Protector. She brooks no nonsense nor excuses, and those dealing with her soon understand this matter is deadly important. While waiting, she sends for any senior members(2) of the Company of the Star whom might currently be in residence in the castle.

(1) perhaps some considerable time after the initial search

(2) any of the adventurer types that participated in Lance's WLDQ and remain associated with the company (however informally)

*Lance presents himself into the castle, riding as fast as he can his tired Horse, with a jump he goes down of the horse, and runs into the castle grounds and the upper areas of the ground carrying news. *

*The company of the star gathers by the fountain where instructions are given and the orders are to stay sharp for when needed*

*After a long discussion and different thoughts and ideas are passed around, Jil agrees that she would scout the area over the border, west of Hilm Castle, east of Swarm Lake. She would leave immediately.

// Jil using all her hide/MS skills, spells of true sight, invis spells if required to scout the area.  Moving slowly and carefully she will keep distance, using all possible cover.  She observe both day and night.
