Legends and Artifacts
« on: June 13, 2005, 08:24:00 pm »
I was looking through the legends and artifacts page and I saw some things that I had some questions about.
First off can you just bring them up and know about them or do you need to have a character that is knowledgeable in that area?
Also I saw an item in there that I *think* is real and I *think* I could get it with some help. Would it always be sitting around there or do I need to have a DM lead a quest to find it?
 Thanks

I dont have my hand in this project anymore but I dont think it would cause any harm for me to answer. The way I see it is this. Your character is capable of hearing about any of those items throughout the course of their life either while adventuring, old family tales, some rambling bard in the inn, ect. Or if your character is the type such, as a bard, that would have some experience in such legends and tales then it is fair to assume that you've learned of it through companions or research. Though seeking the knowledge through a gm run NPC wouldn't be a bad thing.

When it comes to finding the item. That would depend on the item itself and whether or not it was actually put into the game. If it was I dont see any reason why you couldn't find it but I find it doubtful unless a GM put it there for future quest possibilities. Either way it is always best, I think, to work with a gm in this type of case simply because the potential stemming from items of this caliber are always tremendous.

Yep, in agreement with that one.
      And as for:

I'm not sure a rouge would have heard of The Shades Eye. Can't be to hard to find a bard.

Any chance you could lead me and some people to find The Shades Eye? Though it will kind of awkward explaining how I'm the only one that gets the artifact even though they did more work then me.

Hehe, well if they go by what I was thinking when I wrote it, you're looking for a needle in not one, but probably hundreds of haystacks.  It's probably lodged up in a tree, or taken by a crow that enjoys shiny things, or all sorts of different possibilities.  I wouldn't expect a single romp through the wilderness to yield it.  Then again you might trip over it next time you're walking in the woods.

    I love Layonara.

Just keep in mind that from a realistic standpoint you're looking for a small amulet in hundreds (If not thousands) of miles of forest.

Ha Ha Ha. Still, I'm going to try find it if I can. If rumors are true it is stuck in a tree so I don't think a cow has it. Wish me luck. *walks away into forest* Might need to move this over to "Quests, Ideas, Suggestions from the Players"
