Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. Default General - Item to gold drop ratios need adjusting

As per request :)

Yeah the gold numbers are too small. If no one has could someone post a bug in bug reports about the gold drop to item drop ratio being too small?

Subsiquent post...

The above examples are all grouped in encounters of four monster spawns in the Desert. There is a constant three out of four loot drops per encounter. With the odd four out of four I'd say approx once every five spawns.

Conversely, when you go to an area like the Wild Woods, the spiders I believe only have one lootable corpse, if I remember correctly the Cameleon Spiders, my personal favourites :) And I believe every Chameleon corpse that I looked into had something in it...I could go back in my logs and see exactly what if you need. BTW, I like the Chameleon spiders cause they'll run and hide and come back and bite ya :)

Yeah, thats a fun trick isn't it? *grins*

It's something we should do on the PW for all creatures with HiPS too, it makes it so they AI doesn't horridly abuse the ability and makes em real sneaky like.

Thanks for all the info above.

The spiders probably shouldn't drop anything in terms or realism, but in terms of game balance I think I'll keep them as they are (except for the change to fix the bug of this thread.)

This is more difficult than it should be...

Bioware didn't exactly do this right, or even the way they wanted to (judging by their comments.)

In the first campaign they scale gold off of the PC's LEVEL! rather than the monster difficulty or anything.

In the expansion pack code they make reference to converting an item that would otherwise drop into gold and even define what % of the value should be converted to gold and created on the monster (it's set at 50%.)

Buuut, after setting all this up, in the function where gold is actually created on the monster I find the following lines:

CreateGold is the first campaign function that scales off the PC's level.

Arrrrg!

Ok, well if it's hard to sort out I say skip it Although it 'looks' kinda weak getting 9 gold or so from a drop it's not that big a deal. I don't think anyone is really going to be hard up for money. Just my two coppers, heck if you could just multiply it by a factor of ten that'd solve it, to bad it's not as easy as putting in a X 10 though Although with both of my chars I played I haven't bought a single healing potion, only used what was dropped, and rested wherever I could.

tweaked. Didn't fix what bioware didn't do (realized why they didn't... it would require making some sizable modifications to the entire loot system) but it should be good enough.

Fixed.
