Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

Default OW Region: Southern Road - Gravestones Missing LOW PRIORITY

[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Wed Dec 13 11:15:39] As you return to the site of the ambush, you gather your bearings and review the scene from some while ago. The rain has washed away the blood soaked land and extinguished all but the most persistant of fires. The caravan lies in smoldering ruins and your gaze turns to the west where your companions now rest forever.

You buried your friends there and all, and the area description even says you look at them, but they aren't there...well at least the headstones aren't.

*nods* yeah, this would require a persistent setting and I don't think that is happening. Good find/bug but I am not so sure we want to spend time on this one. Unless we already have them persistent and it is just bugged.

oh yeah, the thing about this is that the return area is actually a different area than the first area where the graves are created... so I'd have to have the cutscene create graves in the other area too.

Gonna flag this as low priority for now, it may not get fixed.

Ahh, thought it was a new area so thought you could just paint a couple down, if it's scripted then it's kind of a pain.

I can paint them down.

But if the PC doesn't bury the companions then they have to not be there.

It is changing the message and it should be making graves appear in both areas if you bury them.

However I've seen the grave appearing thing fail before, and I think it's just due to lag or something. gonna test this real quick


Edit: Just tested it and it worked nicely. Though I have seen the grave appearing thing fail before. Not sure what to do about it if the script is telling it to do the right thing and it just doesn't heh

Well, hmm, how about painting them down in the second area, and changing the wording on the area description a bit. Just because you didn't bury them doesn't mean someone like Ander didn't come along afterwards and do it :) you could say something like 'Although you didn't take the time to respect the dead, someone else obviously has.' Then you don't have to worry about the second area at all, the question is can you paint them down to look the same as the first area, so people don't look at it and go 'Awe that looks different than that cut scene when I buried them!"

Edit: Could even put it Ander's convo that he buried some people left to rot ;)

Ok, also for this area, the second area, the door on the crypt needs to be locked, or some baddies need to be put inside It's locked on the first one but not the second.

The gravestone issue is as good as it's going to get. If NWN drops one or two due to lag I don't have a whole lot of control over that unfortunately.
