Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. Membership in our community is free, and allows you to establish a Layonara identity to pose your questions and share your thoughts on the forums. Default Willow's Weep - Not so safe rest point?

[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sun Dec 17 14:54:22] You have entered a safe rest area.
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sun Dec 17 14:54:34] Resting.
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sun Dec 17 14:54:34] #lspm_restsys# Trigger restpoint found at (WillowsWeep) ( 77.296951294, 90.937088013, 0.000000000) ( 0.000000000)
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sun Dec 17 14:54:34] #lspm_restsys# Not safe rest location, Chance of being ambushed
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sun Dec 17 14:54:34] #lspm_restsys# Night: 45% chance of ambush
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sun Dec 17 14:54:34] #lspm_restsys# Error: no spawn config point for current time of day found in this area
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sun Dec 17 14:54:49] Done resting.
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sun Dec 17 14:54:49] You rest for 8 hours and awaken refreshed.

Seems odd to have a 45% chance of ambush in a safe rest place :)

Was it daytime when you rested?

This line:
[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sun Dec 17 14:54:34] #lspm_restsys# Not safe rest location, Chance of being ambushed

Means that the area isn't a safe rest area. Which is true. But you're in a safe rest area so everything else is ignored.

No it was night time, so I can be ambushed here in Willow's Weep? Hmm ok. Seem's odd isn't it supposed to be a town?

I don't believe the rest system is considering the default NWN safe rest points which is what the first "[CHAT WINDOW TEXT] [Sun Dec 17 14:54:22] You have entered a safe rest area." message stands for.

Maybe one should remove the default rest point and replace with the custom ones (if that's the desired result for that particular place)?

We're not using any default nwn rest points.

That message is when you enter a LSPM safe rest area. However the unsafe message still appears because the area itself is not a safe rest area, even though you're in a safe rest point.

Basically you're in a safe rest point in an unsafe rest area.

The only grey area for this is if the whole area is a NO rest area, then if you're in a "safe" rest area you are ABLE to rest but you still might get ambushed.

----

The system is really flexible to create any type of resting environment we want, but in retrospect it might be kinda confusing to the player....

The rest system debug messages will not be visible in the final release.

okay, found the mistake here. The area is supposed to require a restpoint (meaning you can't rest unless you're in a rest point) which is how it was set up. BUT, I forgot to set the spawn % chance to 0 (since you shouldn't be ambushed in said restpoint.) Since there were no rest spawns set up in the area you wouldn't have gotten spawned on anyway... but I fixed this because it was still a mistake (and gave confusing debug messages heh)

Fixed.
