To be even more exact, this situation is described at LORE: Eschew Materials I

And coincidentally the very same spell is used as an example:

"The highest caster level for a spell is used when applying this feat. For example, Greater Magic Weapon is a third level Bard/Sorcerer/Wizard spell but a fourth level Cleric spell; the material component for this spell is required unless the caster has taken the Eschew Materials II feat."

It's just one of NWN's quirks.

The quirk is that NWN doesn't reveal what class is casting a spell when that spell is cast. It's largely irrelevant when a spell only belongs to one particular class, but when it's something like GMW, there's a difference in spell levels between Wizard/Sorcerer and Cleric.  In such cases, Eschew always uses the highest spell level across all classes to determine whether or not it applies to any given spell.
