| New Character Submission - Verideth Lightbringer Character: Verideth Lightbringer
Age: 115
Gender: Male
Class: Druid
Race: Sun Elf
Alignment: Neutral Good
Deity: Multiple
Biography:
Appearance:
Verideth is a very small, short elf. His demeanor exudes a natural "rawness", yet his clothing is unfrayed, black hair neatly trimmed and his nails are cared for. Wild green eyes stare back at you, reminding you of a canopy of leaves swaying in a storm.
Biography:
Findaráto Lightbringer was old in years. His studies of Wizardry never allowed for much else. He took a young wife Nessa and moved to the hamlet of Whorilian off the Northern trade route in Ulam Forrest.
They tried to have a child for several years. Findaráto retreated to his labs and made potions. None of them worked. Frustrated, Findaráto approached the Wood Elves, a druid gave him a tea to drink. A year later I was born. The other Sun Elves joked with him that the druid gave him some sap from the Great Oak itself. I was unusually small and had black hair. A surprised to say the least. I grew up slowly in my stature but my mind was keen as longsword. My Father was pleased.
One year in my adolescence, my Father was invited to the Tower of Earth. He wish me to follow in his foot steps and decided to take me with him. The trip through the forest awoke something in me. A song I had never heard in the city, was loud and clear. I innocently walked away from the caravan, mesmerized by the song I heard. When the caravan stopped and I could not be found. A search ensued. I was found, a day later asleep against a deer. My Father was relieved but surprised by this. Something had happened. He decided to press on and took me to the Tower. He never saw the Wood Elves silently watching over me the whole time.
A test was done at the Tower and I proved that I have a mind for magic. My Father was ecstatic. We returned home quickly. I was introduced to schooling and academics. I hated it. Formal rules on magic, languages, lores... Books, books, books. My Father was very hard on me. Demanding my attention. Expectations were high. I was to pick up the family business of Wizardry and that was that. Every morning I looked out the window at the lush canopy of woods.
Two years this continued. I was an excellent student, had the discipline necessary but would not commit to my studies. My Father persisted. His word was final. One day a visitor came to our door. Not that I knew it but it was the druid that gave my Father the tea that worked. They talked from some time and an agreement was reached. If my Mother had another child, I was free to see what I could become. The next year, we drank a lot of tea...
My sister Elenna was born and everyone rejoiced. She had golden locks and blue eyes as accustom to my people. I was overjoyed because I knew what this ment: Freedom!!! My Father sat me down and told me I was free to do as I wished, I immediately ran off into the woods. I ran so fast, I smack right into a tree and knocked myself out. Excited I was, dexterous I am not. I awake to a nice fire and several Wood Elves laughing around it. We instantly were friends. They named me "Dew Wine" For I was always smiling as drunk and clumsy as an Ox.
I spend the next month enraptured by finally getting the chance to do as I always wished. I forgot about were I was, that my Father had to send word for me to come back. I returned home cautiously. I was surprised to see the old Wood Elf Druid again at our home. I was introduced to Willowtree and told he was going to tutor me in the ways that seamed natural to me. I hugged him right there on the spot. My mother was taken back a bit by that. Willowtree just hugged me back. My Father insisted that I return home occasionally to make sure that I remember my family and culture.
The next few decades were amazing, I learned my skills and was enraptured by the tales I heard of far away lands. I learned to understand the wilds and became a little wild myself. Always returning home to my refinement, I watched my Sister grow into an amazing beauty. She was what my Father wished for.
Then something happened. The Darkness came to an end. Many people stirred. Attitudes changed. Talked was heard of what was happening in other lands. Change did not come often to my people. The Wood Elves may shrug and continue on there way but Sun Elves do not change. I was amazed by what I saw. The next few years were chaotic, not something many were use too.
Riders came into hamlet of Whorilian. Hushed and angry tones were used. Political debate raged. I approached my Father and asked permission to leave Voltrex, he was stunned. Why would I dare to leave? He could not guarantee I would be let back immediately if I got my feet wet and wanted to run home. Many attitudes and things were happening. Calmly I smiled at him and said I know. We exchanged glances and he said that I was finally an adult. I could choose my own way. I went to the Wood Elves and saught out Willowwood. We talked about what was happening. He encouraged me to follwo my heart. I set out for Sadinia and booked passage on one of the few boats departing.
I arrived on Serinty Bay in Tilmar and was not ready for what I experienced. It was... What the people did, how they lived. They were so TALL!! And smelly.. And... I immediately took the next boat out.
I didn't even look at the destination. It was heading to Katherian. On the way a terrible storm came upon us. It raged and raged. We were blown off course and ran aground. The storm passed and the Captain could not get exact bearings. Water was short. We traveled north and landed on one of the isles. I amazed the crew when I found a fresh spring. It was simple, a seagull told me. We restocked and headed south for our original port. We were immediately beset by pirates and were out gun and out maneuvered. I though the whole affair was amazing. The pirates boarded us and took everyone as slaves. The Pirates traveled North for a while and over took more ships. I saw so many races, everything so new. I nursed there wounds and did what I could.
Pickings were slim so they dared ventured toward Mistone. An armed and armored ship was sighted. The Pirates wheeled about to flee. Balance set in. The pirates knew they were going to be caught, so they brought all the slaves on deck and herded us over the side. I realized what was common and fought back. A belaying pin to my head was the last thing I felt...
I awoke to a warm fire and a course blanket on top of me. A human was on a beach tending to my wounds. The look in his eyes was amazing. I knew I could trust him. He told me he found me awash upon the shore and had tended my wounds for several days. I was upon the land of Mistone, near Fort Vehl. He introduced himself as Richtor Holy Man of Toran. I swore to him that I would repay his kindness. He offered to escort me into town. I said why? He chuckled and I agreed to walk with him a while.

| Re: New Character Submission - Verideth Lightbringer Hi there!
While this is an excellent first submission, there are a few things I'd like to see addressed before Verideth is approved.
First, the character Richtor - if this is an existing (or to-be-created) player character in Layonara, I need the player in question to send me a PM authorizing the use of his character in your bio.
Second, I'd like to see a little bit more detail surrounding his connection to nature. As it stands, he seems a blend of the first and second types of druids, as outlined in Druid Information. The falling asleep on a deer suggests the first, while his training suggests the second. A blend is fine, but I would like to see just a little more detail there.
Other than these two points, Verideth is just about ready to go.
Once the points have been addressed, post again to this thread.
Thanks!

| Re: New Character Submission - Verideth Lightbringer He is a class 1, natural type druid.
The PC named Richtor, was going to be a friend of mine also putting in a new application. He has decided to play my twin brother, instead of a human. Bellow is my rewrite:
Character: Verideth Lightbringer
Age: 115
Gender: Male
Class: Druid
Race: Sun Elf
Alignment: Neutral Good
Deity: None
Frustrated, Findaráto approached the Wood Elves. Master Willowwood, gave him a tea to drink. A year later Areimor and I were born. The other Sun Elves joked with him that the druid gave him some sap from the Great Oak itself. My brother and I were of slight build, but possessed minds as sharp as that of our father.
My oldest brother was promised to the druids, I was expected to follow in my fathers ways and learn wizardry. I hated it. My brother was free to roam and travel the woods. Making friends with the wood elves, playing, hunting. He even had a new best friend. A black panther. My studies were boring. Spell dynamics, history, geography... I longed to be outside.
My Father was invited to the Tower of Earth. Wanting to expand my experiences, he took me with him.
My studies continued. I had the mind for it, the discipline but no drive. My Father was always brooding, frustrated beyond belief. Unknown to me, the wood elves were concerned. Master Willowood came to the house one day. They talked from some time and an agreement was reached. If my Mother had another child, I was free to see what I could become. The next year, we drank a lot of tea...
My sister Elenna was born and everyone rejoiced. She had golden locks and blue eyes as accustom to my people. I was overjoyed because I knew what this meant: Freedom!!! My Father sat me down and told me I was free to do as I wished, I immediately ran off into the woods. I ran so fast, I smack right into a tree and knocked myself out. I spend the next month enraptured by finally getting the chance to do as I wished. I forgot were I was, Father had to send word for me to come back. I returned home cautiously. It was so nice to be free and be around my brother again. I was surprised to see the Master Willowwood at our home. I was formally introduced to Willowtree and told he was going to tutor me in the ways that seamed natural to me. I hugged him right there on the spot. My Father insisted that I return home occasionally to make sure that I remembered my family and our culture. One son lost to the wilds was enough.
Master Willowwood began my instructions. Areimor was always around watching. I expected strict rules and more books. All Master Willowwood did, was follow me around and watch me. Everything came to me. I just knew what was what. Animals flocked to me, the woods played that song I heard long ago. The next decades passed so quickly. I had found peace.
The evil that had covered the world was gone. The old excuses were no longer valid in my eyes. I approached Father and asked permission to leave Voltrex, father was stunned. Why would I dare to leave? He could not guarantee I would be let back immediately if I got my feet wet and wanted to run home. Many attitudes and things were happening. Calmly I smiled at him and said I know. We exchanged glances and he said that I was finally an adult. I could choose my own way.
I went into the woods to meet with my brother and talk with Master Willowwood. We were both surprised as I ran, literally, into my brother coming into town. We both got up and laughed. He said Father wish to talk to him alone. Father never summoned Areimor... He said he would meet with me later. I spoke with Master Willowwood and said good bye to all my Wood Elven friends. The next morning I was ready to leave, to my surprise, Areimor and Kalesh were there. He said he would walk were I walked. Learn as I did. I was excited!! The three of us set out for Sadinia and booked passage on one of the few boats departing.
Druid Agreement:
1. I understand and agree to the objectives of being a druid in Layonara.
2. I understand and agree to the rules of achieving these objectives.
3. I understand the internal organizational structure of the druids.

| Re: New Character Submission - Verideth Lightbringer *nods* Thank you for your extra effort in the revision. Your character has been approved.

Some final notes on character creation:
- Please note that racial adjustments for players with subraces are skin based and thus get applied after getting in game.
- Only two ability scores can be less than 10 and only one can be less than 8 after racial adjustments
- Brownies, when selecting a head, the head you choose on the halfling selection will correspond to that numbered head for elves (for example, clicking right 6 times on the head selection during character creation will take the 6th head when clicking right on the elf creation)
- Half-giants and ogres, please ask for a GM (type /dm Anyone here?) if you would like to change to a custom skin.
Have fun!
