| Roleplaying Discuss tips, resources, and concerns with roleplay both inside and outside the Layonara community. | | Welcome to the Layonara forums!
Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.
Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.
After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.
There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.
We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.
Please be our guest and browse around the forums which are available to you. As you do, keep in mind that you are sampling only a portion of what Layonara has to offer. | Paladin Orders For all you paladins out there, Paladin Orders have just been posted in the 'Organizations' section of the forum. http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums...iew.asp?fid=75
It includes several Orders which, once you character is a member, allow you to multiclass freely.
Enjoy, and thanks to GhostWhoWalks for coming up with them.

| RE: Paladin Orders Cool, not many edits either. I was crossreferencing the forums and deity descriptions when I wrote them trying to get them to fit in with the Layonaran mythology.
Added a bit of handbook info in though, Ed. Nice touch.

| RE: Paladin Orders Oooh How do you get to be a member of an order?
Hmmm, I have an idea or 7 for a new character.

| RE: Paladin Orders You need to RP in game... then at the right time (kind of up to you and the GM that runs the CDQ) you need to submit a CDQ request.... Sometimes one is successful and sometimes one is not. | | |

| RE: Paladin Orders Hmm, I guess I will need to look into the Paladin criteria again.

| RE: Paladin Orders So...technical question...could a Wizard in Evocation be considered a Paladin? IE could the character start as a Wizard and then take Paladin classes as he sees fit, assuming the min level of 5 is reached in either class?

| RE: Paladin Orders Someone could start a wizard (envoker), then seek to join Lucinda's temple as a paladin. If thier alignment was correct (lawful good) and they met whatever other tests/trials/rituals a paladin must go through (all of which must be through a CDQ), then you would be able to become a paladin (after you submitted a character approval for the change if its a preexisting character). Once you were a paladin, you must then attempt to join the Chapter of Destruction through another (probably) short CDQ (though I imagine it would be possible to combine both aspects into a single CDQ when becoming a paladin, that would be up to the GM that ran the thing). From that point on you would be able to multiclass freely between paladin and envoker. Otherwise, what happens is you join the church and become a paladin and you can no longer level as a mage, and if you do you can't go back to paladinhood.
Does that clarify?

| RE: Paladin Orders Nice job on all these.
Out of curiosity...
Why weren't specialist Sorcerers included in the Lucindite Paladin orders? I'm not planning on doing such a thing, but it kind of struck me as odd. I was wondering about the logic of that or if it was even considered.
On the surface, it seems to be a logical fit...a sorcerer (who feels perhaps his powers were a gift from Lucinda), wishes to do all he could to further and protect the Weave, etc. Afterall, how much purer could a Lucindite paladin/mage be if not one who inately uses the weave?
Again, just curious...not being critical in the slightest.

| RE: Paladin Orders It occurred to me that perhaps I wasn't clear.
I'm speaking about the free multi-classing between Paladin and Wizard for the Lucindite Paladin orders. Why wouldn't one be able to freely multi-class between Paladin and Sorcerer for the same orders?

| RE: Paladin Orders Aye, sorcerers can't specialize schools to fit the molds well for abjuring, evoking and transmuting orders. (plus the paladins have rigid orders with a very specific way of training) Also, I think Lucinda gained her spellcasting through wizardry, so her Paladins, being literal types who obey every code, would try to follow in her footsteps.
I think Cleric/sorcerers of Lucinda might be allowed though, and that might have some aura of Divine Mandate in their history.... being able to cast spells without studying being like the mark of Lucinda on her "chosen".

| RE: Paladin Orders I could be wrong, but I think you can, at character creation, pick a spell school specialization for sorcerers. I'd think one would RP this with the idea that the spells they are "granted" tend to fall within that particular type of magic. *shrugs*
I'll have to check that out....
Good point about sorc/clerics...And upon further thought, I seem to remember reading somewhere that Sorcerers tend not to be of Lawful alignments because of the nature of their gifts...which would of course exclude them from Paladin-hood.

| RE: Paladin Orders No, you cant choose a school of magic if you are a sorcerer, that's only for wizards.
