Welcome to the Layonara forums!

Layonara is so much more than a game. We started off as a tabletop Dungeons and Dragons campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have developed into a fantasy world with as much compelling and engrossing detail as you will find anywhere.

Our current showcase is a Neverwinter Nights version of Layonara, where our world comes to life in a finely polished persistent world which you can play free of charge. These forums are set up to support and accentuate our player's experiences, but it goes far beyond that.

After years of passionate effort, our world is so well developed, so detailed, so refined that any of the handbooks, maps, historical accounts, legends, descriptions of artifacts, creature reports, character biographies, short stories, novels, movies and original art which populate these forums can surely serve as resources or inspiration for your own fantasy endeavors, whatever they may be. And our world is endlessly evolving, so resources are frequently added and updated.

There are also years of sage advice and commentary on role-playing, gaming and online community development stored in these forums. If camaraderie is what you seek, we offer that too. Our community is as active and supportive as you're likely to find on the internet. In short, these forums are a resource for you to use for whatever purpose or project brought you here.

We're confident that you will find what you are looking for, and likely, substantially more.

Default Looking for head protection

I am looking for a hood, circlet, headband, wrap, crown, or helmet made a non metallic source or out of wrought metal (non worked.) //Is that an okay way to play why druid can use jewelry/circlets/etc. but not other metals? //

I will gladly take information of headgear that is know to exsist or negotiate for a item that you already have.

I am looking for an item that makes one harder to affect or has a useful effect or enhances ones ability to sneak, listen or the like.

//I'll take almost any useful item, one with saving throw bonuses or neat effects perferrable. I already have a silk hood and helm of armor 2 (not that useful for a druid.) Thanks for any help provided.//

My thanks and please contact me in person or by leaving a message here,

If you're looking for some good undead-slaying helms that help keep you from fleeing, there are some "Noisemaker Helms" out there which grant a bit of protection from terrifying wails. (+4 vs fear). There is also a recipe for the Hood of the Shadows listed in the crafthall, which I would assume helps with sneaking, though I've never worn or seen one myself. If you need to look spiffy for a druid circle meeting, the Circlet of Persuasion is a personal favorite of mine. (+8 persuade, +4 Taunt & Intimitade)

Note that I don't sell any of these or have any in stock, just offering suggestions on the kinds of helms that I have found to be useful. I highly suggest Ferrit Pandorn and the Angel's Guild should you be interested in said items, as they always gave me decent prices for them.

Thanks for the information Farros Galdor. Noisemaker helm does not seem right for me. Hood of Shadows is unusable for me, I think its for those more shadowy than myself. //not the right class// The Circlet I have toyed with, but I just do not see it as very useful. But once again I thank you for your suggestions. And I have alreayd riddled The Angel's and Orc Bashers without much success..did get the silk hood for the time being.

I would be very interested in something like a Helm of the Guard, but to my knowledge it is made out of worked metal and thus against my ethos. //Do nto think Druids can wear it, please correct me if I am wrong.//

My Thanks,

Aerimor

I don't see why you can't just rename the Helm of Armor II to be something like Leather Helmet of Doom II. Is there something in the description that says it's metal? Where is it specifically stated?

Why not rename the Helm of the Guard to be druid friendly? Does it specifically state that it's metal as well? RP that it's crafted from cloth and leather... just because it is mechanically made by a blacksmith or bought from the metal merchant doesn't make it -have- to be metal.

For all we know these helms are all made of beetle dung held together with straw and twine.

//Really? I do not want to cheese anything or the like, and I know we (Druids) can't wear metal armor...did not know for sure if it applied to helms or not. For instance I know we can wear jewelry, even though its pretty obviously metal. Made my life a lot easier trying to figure out what I can use...not much out there otherwise.

My immense thanks, makes it not a chore.

My cloak's hood was long ago stitched with enchanted runes, in payment for services rendered to Fort Llast and the city of Haven.

The runes themselves are of thread-of-silver and thread-of-gold, and can provide the effects of protective spells when fully charged: an armor of invisible force and a covering of thick bark, respectively. While it is, indeed, worked metal, from my understanding of the Druidic connection to Nature, they should not interfere overmuch.

However, I do not believe that these effects are what you initially sought.

If you are interested nonetheless, we can meet to discuss the cloak's myriad properties in person.

//It's a Helm of Armor II, the same way I've played it for what's getting close to threeish years. Comes complete with a Johan's Crafted Cloak, though that item may require DM assistance to transfer. The issue of Druids and metal is that metal armor covers them up, sealing them away from their connection to Nature - this is why metal weapons, jewelery, and other small items (in moderation!) don't give them trouble. However! The use of most metal weapons is forbidden, not because it interferes with their senses, but rather as a part of their oaths - a practice what one preaches sort of thing.

//Edit: Ah, good searching, OSX! I remember that thread, come to think...

http://forums.layonara.com/general-d...or-druids.html

I stand corrected by someone with a better search style on the forums than myself. Helm of Armor 2 is in fact made of metal.
